Thanks so much for letting us know how that wonderful reunion went! It brought tears to my eyes as a mom of college age sons; reminded me how much I miss them when they're not at home, and how lovely it is to see them when they do come home! Their experiences have not been so life changing as Eric's, and I pray that he will continue to be open to the Lord's Will as he moves through his life.
Mazel Tov to you and Mr ohioWfan as well! Y'all done good!!

What a beautiful presentation, OWf!!
Your description brought so many memories of something most special I lived during the Korean Conflict.
Entering the Marine Corps, in Basic Training we were not allowed such luxuries as phone calls - nor any kind of liberty.
There was a television set in the lounge, IF you had enough time and energy left to sit and watch, and letters were our only other link to the outside world!
After a brief 10-day leave, I returned to Parris Island as a Classroom Subjects Instructor for women recruits.
What you experienced in your brief and thrilling visit, I lived 24/7 on a base training men to go straight to Korea to war.
Perhaps you can understand the fact cadence calling is as precious to me as a mother's lullaby to a baby..:))
In April I took my grandson to see Parris Island on a day when Lima Company (six platoons) was receiving their globe and anchor emblems, signifying they had proved themselves worthy of being called MARINE !!
I was so energized seeing the ceremony and reliving those times of yore, 16-year old Kyle by noon was begging me to slow down! LOL
And yes, in the Gift Shop I purchased three cadence calling tapes!
One is forever altered by basic training in a positive way, and I rejoice at the transformation your son is undergoing.
You and his father provided the wonderful foundation for his life, OhioWfan Mom, and equipped him wonderfully to handle his own life now.
God will indeed bless all of you.

Way to go and good morning to you.
ohioWfan, I know the joy you felt at the grad ceremony, was at my nephew's graduation from USMC bootcamp...twas a wonderful day. Never really knew what 'proud' was until then. Congratulations to him, you and your family.
Bless you all.
May this holiday weekend be safe and fun and hassle-free for all Freepers, in and out of uniform.
