My father was just diagnosed with colon cancer and I would like to ask for prayers for his surgery this Friday (8/30/02) and for his recovery from this terrible disease. He is a gentleman, a Christian and a family man who taught me most of the important things I rely on to this day. I can only hope be a good of a man and father as he has been. Thank you all.

Wonderful news so far. My father entered surgery on Friday, after a prayer circle initiated and LED BY THE DOCTOR around the pre-op bed my father was laying upon. This was a great start! :) He then discussed what to expect after the procedure to remove the cancerous tumor and told us the surgery would last 3 or 4 hours.
After only 2 1/2 hours he came out and told us the surgery went great and it DID NOT APPEAR THE CANCER HAD SPREAD!!! Woo Hoo! BUT, we have to wait for the pathology report on the lymph nodes he took out to be sure, although he did say the nodes looked and felt normal.
On top of this terrific news, in just 3 days my father is already up and walking around the hallways at the hospital! He is 76 and has an incision from just below the sternum almost to the groin and is already off all the pain meds. It's amazing. The Lord is certainly with him.
I'll post a final update after the pathology report. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers through this ordeal. It has helped me greatly to see all the support and prayers being provided to my father. Freepers are the best!
God bless you all,
Russ
