Washington -- The American people are not committed to a U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Cheney's staff is. Rumsfeld's deputies are. The White House speech-writing office is. The guys they're working under are.

But what about the families of those who will do the fighting? What about the country that will have to suffer the casualties that are the wreckage of every war?

Do not the lastest polls indicate that the AP are behind kicking sadamn's rump?

More likely, the US military would only have to break the back of Hussein's military and destroy their machinery, and the people of Iraq would do the rest of the job for us.

It appears that Chris's feverish dreams are still haunted by Tip, Teddy, Bobby and Jack.

Exactly!

some other possible "REWARDS"

Redistribution of the oil wealth which has been concentrated in the hands of a few the last 4 decades

Freedom of the press

The fall of Iran

Perhaps other Democracies in the Middle East

We wear gas masks to protect us from whatever chemical and biological weapons the Iraqi leader has stockpiled for just this occasion.

This is a typical liberal fool who is stupid enough to think that Saddam's only intent is to use WMD within his own borders. Someday, if he isn't taken out, and some major US city is turned into ruins, it will be people like Matthews who scream about the poor protection we got from the Bush administration.

If you wish to look at both sides of the arguement do not bother dissecting the rantings of the babbling, spit spewing, fish eyed fool named softball.
The mere fact that he supported the scumbag and her husbands wag the dog war against the serbians who were fighting for their lives against the same islamic basterds who perped 911 tells you everything you need to know.
He is a socialist. He is a liar. He will say almost anything to support dems.

I'll take a shot, but there is really only one "item" to Mr. Matthews point of view:

"What will set it apart, distinguishing it for all time, is the immense - and transparent - political stupidity."

What Chrissy fails to see is that regime change in Iraq is fundamentally a national security matter and NOT a political matter. If American foreign policy as it relates to regime change was only about politics, I submit that the first nation we would invade is France.

Unlike Vietnam, the Bay of Pigs, etc., there is a clear and present danger from the nexis of weapons of mass destruction and international terrorism. I believe that once all the dots are connected by the Bush administration, the American people will support military action to replace Saddam with a more democratic regime.

Mr. Matthews and our so-called "friends" want to wait until the USA gets WACKED with WMD's before they "approve" of any action against Iraq. The only problem with that mentality is then it will be too late and the toll after that event will make Sept 11th look like a picnic. we will be talking 10's if not hundreds of thousands dead and injured.

Mr. Matthews seems to have forgotten that we have already lost 3000 + civilians and most of our "friends" support us in words only and are demanding restraint. They can afford to, they are not in the enemies sights...YET. Rest assured, if the goals of Islam are reached within the USA, they WILL be next.

Mr. Mathews somehow thinks when the WMD's are released, he and his family and friends will somehow be exempt. After the "unfortunate" event he would be the first (and so won't the 51%) to cry... "why didn't our government ...i.e. BUSH do something to keep this from happening?"

It sounds like Chrissy has gone off the deep end.

You mean the faxes from the DNC are getting more hysterical. The RATS smell an American victory, and consider it bad for them. They are concerned only with winning the presidency, because the next time, they're not leaving. If they have to work towards an enemy defeat, or the deaths of thousands or millions of Americans, well, "it's a small price to pay".

After a brilliant Bush victory, they'll say "we would have done it better, and cheaper".

Maybe so.

No, it does not.
