Leaving Eielson AFB at 0001 on 1 June 1966, by 0130 we had to put on sunglasses, driving in a southeasterly direction toward Canada!

I absolutely loved the fact the sun never set from mid-May to mid-August!
There was a kind of twilight for about an hour and a half, but only then did any house lights need to be on.
Men coming off duty at midnight went to play softball or fish or any normal activity.

Chevy's is pretty good, but not terrific. I suppose though, that like Chadsworth who is a native Texan, you might find the Mexican food in California not to your taste. Apparently it is different here, and although we love it, Texan's have to get used to it. Different influence or something here.

I also saw a fantastic photograph of some very handsome, distinguished-looking Texan in a white hat and white mustache! No wonder Pip was sighing over Texans! Great photo! I had not seen it before. Harris Ranch is a "fantantastic place to eat". It would make even Cob1 happy. They have a stock feeding operation and feed their own beef as well as supply most of the better steak houses in the area with their beef.
