Tonight's FReep of the peaceniks in Fresno, CA was attended by eleven FReepers. I counted sixteen peaceniks on the other side of the street from us tonight. I think that when there are lots of them in attendance, the response we get from the motorists driving by is louder and more enthusiastic than usual. There were a few who flipped us off or gave us the thumbs down sign, but at times the honking was really unbelievable! Hundreds and hundreds of people honked to show support for our point of view on this, Fresno's busiest intersection.
FReepers who attended were:
It was a pleasant and agreeable 90 degrees in Fresno today, so unusual for August. I hope this gorgeous weather continues through the rest of the summer.
After the peaceniks left at promptly 6:30 (as usual), we stayed another half an hour and then (almost) all of us went to DiCiccios for dinner and pleasant conversation. FReepers are wonderful people!
To all FReepers who weren't able to attend tonight, we missed you and hope you will join us next week. To those who were able to make it tonight, THANKS for coming! Your effort is appreciated!
Okay, now I'm getting a little choked up...better go to bed. Thank you again for standing tall.
A freeper in Colorado asked a question when he finally noticed we were doing our weekly freep. Following is his question and my reply. It is time for the fence sitters and cyber warriors to face the enemy of our beloved nation!
OK, folks. How come I'm just now finding out about this?!?!
Very good question Randall. I asked myself the same question back in the beginning of June. Freeper CardCarryingMember.VastRightWC had informed through an email that this had been going on since right after 9/11/01. Why didn't I know about this sooner? I asked myself the same question. When I decided to get involved he reminded me that he had told me a month earlier. I checked and sure enough he had.
So why did I think that I had not been informed of it? It was a matter of priorities. Other issues had clouded my vision and blocked me from seeing what was right in front of me. This whole War on Terrorism is enormous and painfully overwhelming. We run around wondering how can we be effective? What can we do to make a difference?
I still don't know if protesting the anti american anti war protesters is the most effective use of my time. Perhaps I will never know, but one thing I do know is that I and a handful of others are 'doing something' besides sitting around wondering what we can do.
The bigger question and one of much more importance is now that you have 'found out about this', what are you going to do about it? It is easier for me to understand and overlook the blind sheeple and wonder when will they wake up and see the light than it is to wonder why those who see and do nothing, well, do nothing.
Don't wait for someone else to get involved! Here is a link Operation Infinite Freep: Know your Enemy . Find out who these folks are and what they are up to in a neighborhood near you, gather some like minded individuals and face them, or join us at our weekly gathering.
