Engaging in hate speech directed at expired equidae is a serious matter. Don't be a hippos-crit.

This reminds me that somewhere on FR's huge archive there's the Ebonics version of "Twas the Night Before Christmas." I believe it begins "Wuz de night befo Crimmus...."

Actually, no. I inferred Roscoe must be related to a Black candidate for California Assembly because he had the guy's ad on his page, and, as far as I could tell from the guy's record, the only people who ever voted for, much less campaigned for, or gave money to this no neck Drug Warrior are his relatives. If you think I am exaggerating, ask Roscoe for the guy's name and check it out.
At the time I said it was pity because the Republicans need MORE good Black candidates. Which in Roscoe's mind is somehow racist. Go figure.

Nice column. We need more gravel roads. Also, it's good to see your site up and running again.
I've sent you a book order in the mail today (sorry about the cash).
Stay in touch,

Funny....one of my most memorable, and best, English teachers was a black woman That brings back an old dusty memory for me. Back in LA in ~1967, I had Mrs. Griggs as my 3rd grade teacher. That's LA as in "Lower Alabama", specifically Ft. Rucker, AL, and Mrs. Griggs was black.
I think it was a little shocking at first for my mom (not very many blacks in her small town growing up in PA), especially in that place at that time, but what I recall was a nice caring lady who ran a tight ship and taught well. And without any ebonics, that's for sure.

Through intimidation, violence and pseudoscholarship, Afrocentrists have dumbed down the education of our black children and kept white teachers from working with them. They deliberately cut off poor, black children from mainstream America. Huh?
Wouldn't it be simpler to just call these guys what they are; racists.

In the military (late 80's early 90's) it was a problem we noticed amongst our "group" that we began picking up and using "ebonics" in our normal speach practices (ebonics runs rampant in the armed services). We (small circle of close friends) decided that it was a rather stupid idea to let these word-forms become a part of our normal speaking habits. To cure the problem, we decided that when another heard one speak "ebonics" the first person to "call" the other on it got to slap him across the cheek...needless to say, after a few red hand imprints, we broke ourselves from the habit.
