I disagree. Bush will not make the same mistake as his father did in thinking that Saddam would go down from his own people. No, methinks, we are going to Bagdad, this time.

I thought the (perfectly acceptable) word "immanent" was a great pun, with good meaning. If you mean to say it was incorrect, then you need the same dictionary. Remember, "don't immanentize the eschaton?"

Other than that, I agree with you about spelling. It makes the entire forum look as ignorant as some of the people are.

to remind Saddam that we have people on the inside in Iraq- people who he trusts- and that sooner or later he's going to wake up in Hell...

"Section 5 of the War Powers Resolution contains two of its most controversial features. Section 5(b) provides that if Congress does not authorize the President to continue a section 4(a)(1) deployment (sending forces "into hostilities or into a situation where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances") within 62 days (the 60-day clock begins running when a report is submitted or when it should have been submitted, that is, WITHIN 48 HOURS AFTER THE DEPLOYMENT)..."

I got that off a website. I could not find the actual legislation saying the report had to be made within 48 hours after the deployment, but apparently that is how Congress has set it up somehow.

The Resolution says that you need to consult with Congress and report within 48 hours after the attack. However, he does not need approval to launch an attack. The President can start an attack when he feels like and not worry about Congress. He just needs to submit a report afterward in order to get Congress to go along with it.

So, just to repeat, the President does not need authorization from Congress to attack Iraq.

Would George WANT to get approval from Congress so that if something goes wrong there'll be blame to go around?

READ THE FOLLOWING AND THEN THINK BEFORE POSTING ANYMORE NONSENSE WITHOUT BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

SENATOR JAMES INHOFE IS ONE OF THE MOST HONORABLE MEN IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE! HE WOULD NEVER LEAK ANY INFORMATION -- HE DOESN'T DO THINGS LIKE THAT. HE HAS BEEN ON BOARD WITH PRESIDENT BUSH SINCE THE PRIMARIES WHEN HE GOT FED UP WITH MCCAIN AND DECIDED TO TAKE A STAND IN FAVOR OF BUSH.

NOW YOU CAN CHOOSE TO BELIEVE ME OR NOT BUT THE CRAP I AM SEEING POSTED ABOUT SENATOR INHOFE WITH NONE OF YOU KNOWING THE FACTS IS SHAMEFUL. IS THIS WHAT FREE REPUBLIC HAS COME TO? DON'T YOU ALL REMEMBER WHEN SENATOR INHOFE WENT ON THE FLOOR OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE ABOUT THE THEFT OF OUR NUCLEAR SECRETS?

WHERE ARE ALL YOU FOLKS ON AN ACTION THREAD ABOUT GORE AND ENRON THAT IMPLICATES THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION? A LOT OF TIME WAS SPENT ON RESEARCH SO FREEPERS COULD DO SOME ACTIVISM. SEEMS TO ME SOME YOU FOLKS WOULD RATHER ATTACK AN HONORABLE MAN LIKE SENATOR INHOFE WITHOUT HAVING THE FACTS AT HAND WITH THE DETAILS OF WHY HE IS SAYING THIS THEN "CONSIDERING" HE IS SPEAKING FOR A REASON.

FRANKLY I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THE NUMBER OF FREEPERS THAT WOULD RATHER ATTACK A REPUBLICAN NOWDAYS ON FR THAN GO AFTER THE RATS! I AM LEFT WONDERING WHY FRACAS AND I ARE WASTING OUR TIME DOING RESEARCH TO TRY AND DEFEAT THE DEMOCRATS IN NOVEMBER AND IN 2004 AND ASKING FOR YOUR HELP IN GETTING THE WORD OUT!

I will tell you who "this guy" is -- maybe you had better do some research!

Have you ever heard of the Senator who had the courage to stand up to bill clinton on the Theft of Nuclear Secrets speech which Senator Inhofe gave on the floor of the Senate? Following that speech his propeller of his private plane just happened to fall off on the way to OKC for the dedication of OKC Bombing Memorial where clinton and his wife were attending.

Next time look up Senator James Inhofe from Oklahoma at the Senate website and see his press releases before asking that question.

Didn't mean to infer that you guys had said anything negative about Senator Inhofe which you didn't, just wanted to bump you all to the thread!

Sorry!

Another thread on here implies the truth! It says that Ariel Sharon's long-planned and somewhat extended, social, visit to the USA with emphasis on Florida, long scheduled for September 9, has BEEN CANCELLED.

Looks like we are all right, Inhofe too. I don't think this would have been done unless the witching hour was on or before 9/11/02.

Coupled with Inhofe's remarks, which were planned, this is the most significant story of the day.

That Sharon would cancel an important visit, scheduled for early September, to an important segment of American Jewry during a period in which the Intifada is continuing should set off alarm bells all over the Middle East.

If my hunch is correct, Sharon has been given the head's up, which is all he asked for. Look for an Israeli "Order 8" to go out in early September, targeting first responders and biowar reaction teams. Regulars and armored troops will be called up for duty on the Lebanese and Syrian frontiers. The IAF will call up its reservists so they can have the maximum number of planes on strip alert. The Israeli political assumption is that the Egyptians will not risk losing the Sinai a second time by going to war against Jerusalem.

However, the Israelis are not so certain about the attitude of the Boy President of Damascus, or the Hezboallah in South Lebanon. So they will be ready.

This also gives the Israelis time to consider, in consultation with the White House, any Israeli response to Saddam's use of WMD on the Israeli homeland. Any response must be coordinated with the Americans so that a united front might be presented to the rest of the world. The usual suspects will begin condemning Israel for using tactical nuclear weapons against Republican Guard formations and biowar facilities in the Iraqi interior. Robert Fisk's head will explode. But the Israelis must hold off until they have taken civilian casualties as the result of chemical or biological attack before they respond.

The Russians have given the go-ahead. Don't be fooled by the "trade agreement". It will be honored by a future Iraqi successor regime, and Russia's debt will be repaid. America will insist on it. Russia's "opposition" to the war gives it a place at the top table when the peace conference is held.

In Moscow, of course. The "Putin Plan" will win Vladimir a Nobel Prize and burnish his reputation as a defender of Russian national interests.

Sharon cannot be absent from Israel at a time when he may have to order the use of TNW's.

The game is afoot. Inhofe is a steady, reliable Senator. He takes his job seriously. He may have said "fairly soon", but he doesn't want to be known as a leaker. He did this with approval from the White House.

We live in interesting times.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

You are scaring the heck out of me but I am a fraidy cat anyway. I forget there is so much goiing on that we are not privy to and I don't often see significance when it happens. I did think Bush's comment on the four gunshots was telling someone something but couldn't quite figure it out.

Thanks for the ping!

I can't believe what I'm reading on this thread. Sen. Inhofe was just on with Kudlow and he gave a wonderful outline of the President's position about Iraq. He was articulate and better - IMHO - blunt about the reason others were bad-mouthing going after Iraq. He was also naming names, which needs to be done.

As you've posted here, our research has turned up nothing but an ultra squeaky clean Senator. I agree with Larry Kudlow; you're lucky to have two of those in OK.

It is amazing to me that ANYBODY could find a reason to criticize Senator Inhofe. If we had a Senate full of Inhofes, we'd be a heck of a lot better off. I have long admired his honesty and integrity.

The first comments were all I saw when I started writing my reply -- I wrote it several times and actually toned down what I was thinking.

Senator Inhofe is one of my Oklahoma Senators and I have the uptmost respect for him and my other Senator Nickles. You will not find two finer Senators than these two men. On CNBC, one of the anchors just said they grow fine Senators in Oklahoma. I agree totally!

With all these Turn-coat Republicans turning on an Iraq Attack, it is good that someone comes out saying 'WE ARE GOING TO 'IRAQ'.

When people like Dick Armey or Brent Scowcroft express their reservations about attacking Iraq, we should thank them for having had the courage to speak up, not attack their loyalty. The last thing we need as we make preparations to go to war is to call people traitors if they dissent from the party line.

Then if Saddam knows it, why say it again.

If Saddam already knows it (and he does) what difference does it make how many times you say it?

I'd do it Aug. 31 in the afternoon eastern time, but if not then on the new moon. But that's just me. Anyway, isn't Sergio the tall, short guy with blondish, brown hair?
