Do you know when the Billy McKinney runoff is going to be held?
Great idea! That's one reason I put things on this board- so others can reference them.
Do you know when the Billy McKinney runoff is going to be held?
I have read it's in 2 weeks- but have not confirmed that.
Thanks very much... we only have a 2 week "window of opportunity," but maybe we can do something with it.
I suppose this is as good a time as any to mention the "how-to" of e-activism:

I'm certainly not surprised at Billy's ego-boosting proclamation. The sponsors are the "usual suspects" - Tyrone Brooks, of course, another long-time race-baiting local house member and Cynthia's campaign manager. He may have had enough of Cynthia, however, playing for the press her telephone message to him regarding Andy Young's supposed defection from Jihad Cindy . . .
IIRC, LaNett and Pamela are sisters representing adjoining districts. I used to have some contact with them, because their districts were part of the neighborhood association I chaired for awhile back in the late 80s/early 90s. They struck me at the time as nice ladies and well-meaning but not the sharpest knives in the drawer; I think they are just "going along to get along" with the traditional power brokers in their neck of the woods (Brooks & McKinney). Georganna Sinkfield ditto. Grace Davis is gone now, I don't know Joe Heckstall at all.
If you go here you can look at the sort of legislation these people are sponsoring and get a good idea of where they are coming from. This particular group seems to vote in lockstep with Brooks and McKinney a significant part of the time.
However, they are (like Earth in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) "mostly harmless". The ladies are actually quite nice to deal with and are just trying to do right by their districts, which are poor and relatively powerless (it used to be a talking point in our neighborhood association that the 49th and the 50th have more toxic waste sites, landfills, dumps, and sewer plants than any other districts in the city.) Tyrone is a loud talker but has not to my knowledge been a physical threat to anyone or anywhere near as hateful as McKinney.
Besides, none of them are up for re-election at the moment.
