The defeat of Cynthia McKinney is more of a defeat for the old guard liberal black leadership than for McKinney herself. McKinney had the support of saleouts liberal blacks such as Jesse Jackson Martin Luther King III and NOI Leader Louis Farrakhan, but it was not enough to overcome Republicans and Conservative Southern Democrats who were sick of Cynthia McKinney and her mouth. Cynthia McKinney thought she could continue to play the race card over and over again even as her district changed.
Cynthia McKinney sought to split American over 9-11 and made the baseless claim that President Bush knew the attacks where going to happen and did nothing to stop them. Cynthia McKinney also took money from those who had ties to international terrorist groups.
Yes Cynthia McKinney and Earl Hillard defeats are defeats for the old guard of liberal 1960's Era liberal promoted black leaders.

Shelia Jackson "Let's get the Mars Rover to check out the Apollo US Flag" Lee. Oh please do. When she attempted to quote Winston in defence of Weird Bill, I was ready to call for her head on a platter.

My faith in the common sense of the electorate has been restored. NYTimes, Begala, Carville, CNN, etal have been riding the wrong horse. Gore continues to shoot himself in the foot, MSNBS is floundering....the nation will NOT be duped by those who wish to destroy our values, divide us as a people with lies and bias! Congrats to GA!

"I wonder why Brian Lamb doesn't do something. I'd love to know what their ratings are today as compared to those before they tried to promote Gov Klinton's election by changing the line distinctions"
Agree. . .they finally lost me as a regular viewer or more precisely; a once devoted c-span junkie; now a committed FoxNews watcher and certainly, 'Fox and Friends' :).
. . .have a'look-see' every once and awhile and have wondered the same as to Brian Lamb.

Right on - there may be hope for us yet. Would REALLY be great to have a Republican win Georgia though.

I had great hopes the Mothership would beam up McKinney, but I'll settle for the American electorate doing the job.

Bump to that!. . .though they will be comforted by the Lib spin in their analysis of the vote. . .

I suspect Brian Lamb and C-SPAN were given orders by their cable industry paymasters to attract underclass viewers. That's probably the segment of the population among whom the cable industry still has the most room to grow.

Yes they are more conservative have more education and know more about what is going on in the world. Cynthia just couldn't see this she was still in the ninties and her constituents were moving on into the new millenimum.

She probably doesn't understand she can't burn a US flag in space. Give her a match and let her try.

A truly fitting end to her career as a member of the house.
Now, if she can just be kept out of politics forever we'll be on the right track.

Freepers do you remember who first took the lead in the defeat of Cynthia McKinney. The voters did what the Congress refused to do....

Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D GA-4) is a friend of Terrorists.
The African American Republican Leadership Council Demands that Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D GA-4) be stripped from her House of Representative Armed Services and International Relations Committees Without Delay
From all indications, it appears from public records that Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney may very well have ties to terrorists and or friends of terrorists.
Congresswoman McKinney has to date refused to disavow support of known terrorist supporters including Hezbollah and Hamas protagonist Abdurahman Alamoudi.
And given the sensitive nature of the committees on which she sits, the American People would be better served and rest easier at night reassured that the briefings this Congresswoman might be privy to, does not end up in the wrong hands.
Hence, after much deliberation and review of public records and all other information available to AARLC, and the Congresswomans unwillingness to come clean with the American People on what exactly is her relationship with terrorists groups maybe, the African American Republican Leadership Council demands that Democrat House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt (D-3-MO) remove the Congresswoman from these prominent committees to safeguard sensitive information being compromised intentionally or unintentionally by the Congresswoman, especially as our young men and women of all races remain in harms way as we combat terrorism in defense of freedom and liberty worldwide, and our very existence. Not to remove her would be a failure to avert potentially credible information ending up in the wrong hands.
Further, the African American Republican Leadership Council, calls on Eddie Bernie Johnson (D-30-TX) chair of the Congressional Black Caucus to suspend the Congresswoman from this Historic Black elected officials congressional committee that represents the many several thousands African American young men and women that today have left their families at great sacrifice and put themselves in harms way to defend the very institution that she has so soiled with disrepute on its entire leadership and its 40 strong membership.
Further that Congresswoman McKinney makes public her list of donors to the American People and completely divulge her relation to terrorists without delay or resign from Congress.
Further, the African American Republican Leadership Council requests that Congress panels its House Ethics Committee and other relevant committees to look into whether Congresswoman McKinney has compromised her committees assignments, is a friend of terrorists, has accepted funds from terrorists, aids and abets terrorists, committed treason in her oath to defend and protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic and if so must expel her from Congress without delay.
And last, but not least, The African American Republican Leadership Council demands that Congresswoman Cynthia Ann McKinney immediately apologize to the Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush of our Armed Forces and former President George H. W. Bush, for her treasonous allegations made back on March 25, on KFPK, a Berkeley California public radio station against the President, his father and other associates.
We condemn this new precedence setting of the Congresswoman as callous, wanton, vile, despicable and darn right irresponsible and unbecoming of a member of Congress of any political affiliation, race, sex or creed.
The African American Republican Leadership Council stands behind and with President Bush along with all Americans as we battle to assure our American way of Life, freedom and liberty.
End////

Why did she take a divisive position? She apparently offended some of her backers and lost financial and political support. What did she hope to gain? She and her handlers got too big for their britches, as we say here in the south.
They thought that her "celebrity" and the backing of the Islamites (not to mention the illegal campaign tactics and double voting) would serve to carry her to another victory.
Regrettably (for her), too many good people in the district, both Demo and Republican, were tired of her almost daily displays of race-baiting, rumor-mongering, her sucking up to the Islamites, and her never-ending blathering about race-profiling, the "dirty Jews" and so on and so forth.
I recall recently wherein someone on this forum took issue with another poster labeling her stupid, and argued, unsuccessfully, that she was in fact, very intelligent and very articulate.
To the contrary, this woman was and is, very stupid. Her absolutely stupid remarks and actions have come back to haunt her.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I hope that you are right, but I am not sure...McKinney probably still would have won if the district had not changed...sad but probably true...I appreciate very much that there are folks like you who will brave to kick against the orthodoxy forced on the black community by the liberal old guard, but when 90% of the black vote goes to Bill Clinton, I do not thing the corner has been turned.

There is much work to be done but Republicans(namely those at the RNC) don't tend to understand that and any outreach efforts that they do are dismissed as tokenism because those type of Republicans don't understand how to approach Pro-Growtrh African Americans who would vote Republican id the party's efforts where indeed real.

Great News!
One of the really untold stories in American are the great Black Conservatives in America like you two gentlemen, and how the numbers of Black Conservatives are increasing.
Keep up the good work!
God Bless all conservative Americans!
To: cardinal4
Americans are becoming more conservative regardless of race.I sure wish it were so, but we have more people depending on and clamoring for government largesse than every before in history. And the give aways are funded by the highest tax rates we've ever seen.
I've always thought that conservatism represented limited government whose powers are based on Constitutional principles. On that basis, conservatism is incrementally losing ground.

I agree...the GOP needs many more black leaders in the Congress and Senate (like Watts), but is difficult for conservative blacks to run for office because the old liberal so-called "civil rights" guard will try to destroy them when they do.
