NEVER FORGET

.."WE WERE SOLDIERS"..

...the new RANDALL WALLACE ..'Braveheart in 'Nam.. Motion Picture starring MEL GIBSON, SAM ELLIOTT, MADELEINE STOWE, GREG KINNEAR, CHRIS KLEIN, KERI RUSSELL, BARRY PEPPER about the 1st Major Battle of the Vietnam War in the -Valley of Death- that was the IA DRANG of November 1965...

...is out today on ..DVD/Video in Super-Surround Sound that highlights the unforgettably lush Soundtrack Musical Score of NICK GLENNIE-SMITH.

...A major new plus here is the new addition of -10- previously deleted scenes on both the DVD and Video with Commentary by "WE WERE SOLDIERS" Director/Screenwriter RANDALL WALLACE, who won an Academy Award for his 1st .."BRAVEHEART".. Motion Picture Screenplay starring ..MEL GIBSON..!

...In .."WE WERE SOLDIERS".. MEL GIBSON is then Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE who led his 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry (Of CUSTER fame) Skytroopers to victory, while surrounded by 2,000 North Vietnamese Communist Regulars, in the 7th Cav's 2nd Battle of the Little Big Horn to open the Vietnam War.

...This outstanding Motion Picture is based on the Classic Non-Fiction Bestselling Book ..'WE WERE SOLDIERS ONCE and YOUNG'.. Co-Authored by now Lt. Gen. HAL G. MOORE (Ret.) and War Correspondant JOE GALLOWAY who was there.

...It was my distinct honor to carry Radio and drive for Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE (MEL GIBSON) and his S/MAJ BASIL L. PLUMLEY (SAM ELLIOTT) right up to this Battle, where I witnessed all from the close-in Artillery Support Landing Zone Falcon that fired up a constant Wall of Fire around the surrounded Landing Zone of IA DRANG-1965 = THE Difference.

...After my carrying our Hero Dead and Wounded Young Soldiers fresh from Landing Zone X-Ray to helicopters going back to the rear at Pleiku Airstrip ...Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE wrote out his -Letters of Condolances- to their Hero Families waiting for them their Loved Ones to come home or not. As the IA DRANG-1965 S-1 Personnel Clerk ..I typed them up for mailing home ..some directly to Mrs. JULIE MOORE's for her hand delivery to wives.

...All this I will NEVER FORGET.

Haven't hooked up my SV connections yet. Best Buy originally tried to sell me the component jacks, which are 3 RCA's if you are familiar with them. I bought those and the performance was terrible, so I'm stuck with straight RCA's now.

...I personally will NEVER FORGET the ..WWS.. Deleted DVD Scene showing a just widowed Mrs. TOM METSKER attempting to sing a Christain Song in front of her Ft. Benning's Church members, and the real Lt. Gen. HAL G. MOORE (Ret.), honoring her husband at his own Memorial Service. And then came the sudden break away to BRUCE CRANDALL and ED "TOO TALL" FREEMAN's Huey's zeroing once again for LZ X-Ray.

...I will also NEVER FORGET carrying Capt. TOM METSKER's body off of Major BRUCE CRANDALL's Huey at LZ Falcon, id'ing him and later on typing up Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE's -Letter of Condolance- to his widow.

NEVER.

I think I'll do a search on Robert McNamara. My husband stated he couldn't understand how a man could come out and support a war just because he worked for a President at the time and then come out later and write a book against it later.

You could tell in that deleted scene that Westmoreland and McNamara weren't even listing to what he was telling them... Worse yet, they didn't even care ...

...In the real MOORE/MacNAMRA After-Action Scene back at Gen. HARRY W.O. KINNARD's 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters after our Victory at IA DRANG-1965...

...HAL gave a 15 minute report to MacNAMARA who merely shoke his hand afterward, said "Thanks" and promptly wrote up a Report on the plane back home itemizing why we could NEVER win the Vietnam War.

...Until his resignation years later Secretary of Defense ROBERT S. MacNAMARA personally got to OK every Airstrike Target LBJ hit in Communist North Vietnam.

...With "Friends" like this ..no wonder LBJ became a one term President...?

That's what my husband was saying that even Johnson himself ordered differing strikes in that war rather than leaving them to the military... Kinda sounds like Clinton in Somalia doesn't it?

And people kept saying that Bush had one of the weakest governorships in the country and that he was qualified to be President.

Johnson was a US Senator and a Vice President and still didn't know how to be President.

...MacNAMARA was LBJ's Bombing Filter.

...LBJ was committed to fighting Communism, MacNAMARA wasn't.

Well you would never see Rumsfeld disagree with Bush ever... Did you see them together today? Rumsfeld basically told the press that Bush was President and he would do whatever he was ordered to do... Don't you love it?

ALOHA GunRunner...

...I'm so very proud of your openess about our .."WE WERE SOLDIERS".. Story.

...The Biblical Interpretation of the word MEEK is defined as .."Being Open and Teachable".. which you have certainly proven to be here on this Forum Thread that was fired up in honor of those 7th Cavalry IA DRANG-1965 Heroes whose names took the place of mine on the 3rd Panel of the Vietnam Wall.

...And now it has been announced that both the Governors of New Jersey and New York are proposing to change the name of the Newark International Airport to -LIBERTY- International Airport in honor of the 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

..'WE WERE SOLDIERS ONCE and YOUNG'..and September 11th's Tower 2 Hero RICK RESCORLA lived in New Jersey.

Fits.

One character was actually an amalgamism of about 6 guys (can't remember which character). That whole hand raising out of the dirt scene was a fabrication (as the guy said "we were yelling our heads off before our rescuers were even in sight, everybody still alive was quite visibly alive"). And that closing scene where he pays respect to the enemy never happened. I think there were a couple more but that's all I can remember. And of course the death notice thing was pure Hollywood in the timing (nobody got notices while the battle was still happening for reasons that are obvious upon reflection), but that was so powerful they are completely forgiven.

NEVER FORGET...& ALOHA 2-discostu...

...2/Lt. JACK GEOGHAGEN's Character was that 6-Man .."WE WERE SOLDIERS".. Role that included 2/Lt. WALTER MARM's storming of a Machine Gun nest all by himself that gave his fellow SkyTroopers on the line more encouragement to fight on...

...and a future Congressional Medal of Honor for himself.

I am someone who was greatly affected by Vietnam movies such as "The Deer Hunter" when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's.

The intense violence was so shocking and inhumane, that I find it hard to watch any movie on Vietnam.

I find out now, that the movie makers had that in mind. By focusing on the horror and the killing, they were trying to turn America's youth into pacifists, afraid to fight for freedom because war was bloody and people died!

What was left out of the typical Vietnam movie was the very real fight between Good and Evil, and the reality that Communism wants to see AMERICA dead!

I have yet to see WE WERE SOLDIERS because of a remnant of the brainwashing that got to me years ago. But, I'm going to push past that "feeling" and rent the DVD!

From what I've read about Mel Gibson's movie, it is one of the best Vietnam movies because it returned respect to the Soldier and it also returned MEANING to the war effort, restoring Valor and Honor to the cause of fighting for FREEDOM and also to fighting against EVIL!

I'll let you know after I watch WE WERE SOLDIERS, because with Hillary Clinton and her Communist ties to China...WE ARE ALL SOLDIERS NOW!!!

Best regards to all those who helped keep America Free!
