IMHO Carvile does all in his power to embarrass his wife. He can't stand her success. Judging from his ugly ugly comments about Paula Jones it is clear Carvile has very little regard for women.

Actually he's quite brilliant (if you aspire to be a scumbag) considering the path he took years ago realizing that libs were much easier to persuade than conservatives. He disclosed this to a gentleman I associate with during the successful campaign for Wallace Wilkinson in KY in the '80s. He proclaimed that libs were too lazy and uneducated too be conscientious of the issues so they blindly associated themselves with the Democratic party. He preys on and fuels ignorance.

I have never meet him but suspect this is true. Begala however grew up in this area and I assure you he is as liberal as they come and has been at least since high school.

His family lived around the corner from us, and I used to drive that kid to CCD in high school. His mother was wildly liberal and walked out on the husband and 5 or 6 kids in Paul's high school years. His mother sued the school district because a teacher disciplined Paul (or his brother -- I forget which.)
