Dear Freepers:
I just returned from the First Annual Free Republic Network Convention in Las Vegas.
The Free Republic Network Cruise last October was the most fun I've ever had in my whole life. The Free Republic Network Conference I just attended was the most informative and inspiring two days I've ever had in my whole life.
The Free Republic Network is stretching its muscle, not by talk, but by action. The Free Republic forum is liberty's college. The Free Republic Network is liberty's workplace.
If you attended, please use this thread to post your observations, comments and highlights of the conference. I will give mine below. But before I do, I'd like to take this time to thank Bob Johnson and the FRN board for putting on this conference. It's hard for me to find the words to adequately describe how great this experience was--and how much I learned.

Sounds good. More details? Cruise line? Cost? That sort of thing. Tell me it embarks from N'Awlins, and I'm in!

Hey! I met a Lusty Wench in Las Vegas. What a mega-babe! She was hanging out with the pirates.

I just remembered the following, don't know if it's incorporated yet, but if not, please add it in:
Always use upper and lower case for name tags, etc. Do not use all caps. This is the best way for humans to read.
Note that Coca Cola uses all caps only on the ingredients (which they don't particularly want you to read).
Also, I don't quite know what this means, but I had it in large letters on a single page with nothing else on it: "What is your name?"
Strela, I know we talked about how important peoples' names are to them. To each and every person, the most important words are his own name. I know remembering names, especially in politics, is very important. But, can you think of why I would have written that on its own page?
Quote from Lee Atwater: "You can't teach a kid to ride a bike at a workshop."
Then there's this from my notes, "The Real Nature of Politics: no cookie cutter approach."

Most of these things run about $100/day. We'll check NO, I'm not sure which lines run out of there, but my sneaky suspicion is that the have older ships...like Galveston. Running out of TX or LA will take away one port of call.

Well! An older ship, unless it is a really, really ELEGANT older ship, will never do!
OTOH, N'Awlins is a fun place to start and end a party!
What ports are under consideration?

Noted all, and I'll add them to the Word file then update the thread.
You don't happen to remember which segment of the conference each of those items were from, do you? I think you noted that the last Lee Atwater quote was from "Real Nature of Politics."
Also, I don't quite know what this means, but I had it in large letters on a single page with nothing else on it: "What is your name?"
... can you think of why I would have written that on its own page?
Perhaps you were making a note to yourself to do that as a team-building exercise, or was distracted by someone else during the "name tag" portion of the lecture. When I take notes, I do the same thing; put what I consider to be important distinctions on their own page, usually with a couple of exclamation points or artwork that jogs my memory to the concept I was trying to remember.
Or, perhaps you were lost in reverie about that incredibly dashing Freeper that walked in during the lecture, just having tucked in his cape and hidden his big red "S" and returning from rescuing a cat from a tree ... ;)

You don't happen to remember which segment of the conference each of those items were from, do you? The upper/lower caps part was from the beginning of Matt Lewis's talk in the morning, right after the three elements of political technology: Time (most important); Talent; and Treasure.

The upper/lower caps part was from the beginning of Matt Lewis's talk in the morning ... Excellent! I'll place them accordingly. Thank you.
