Dear Freepers:
I just returned from the First Annual Free Republic Network Convention in Las Vegas.
The Free Republic Network Cruise last October was the most fun I've ever had in my whole life. The Free Republic Network Conference I just attended was the most informative and inspiring two days I've ever had in my whole life.
The Free Republic Network is stretching its muscle, not by talk, but by action. The Free Republic forum is liberty's college. The Free Republic Network is liberty's workplace.
If you attended, please use this thread to post your observations, comments and highlights of the conference. I will give mine below. But before I do, I'd like to take this time to thank Bob Johnson and the FRN board for putting on this conference. It's hard for me to find the words to adequately describe how great this experience was--and how much I learned.
TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; Breaking News
KEYWORDS: activism; askaskel; askelagain; askelyetagain; bobj; bobjbobjay; bobjohnson; chuckmuth; conference; friva; herecomesaskel; lasvegas; lauraingraham; network; politicaleducation; richgalen

Considering that several points of the information that you have been receiving has proven to be inaccurate, and, I'm just taking a shot in the dark, but is it possible that you may be receiving this information from individual(s) who may not wish to see our differences solved, but rather to inflame and ignite them with incendiary and provacative rumours? Perhaps if we knew where this erroneous data was coming from, we could solve it together and take the edge off of what is fast becoming an FR farce.

It was a pleasure meeting you and your brother. Has he gotten a screen name yet?
ffrancone, do you think the elevator security guard signed up? Y'all, we were chatting by the elevators and talking politics. I know, an unusual topic....the security guard kept saying 'ditto' and we finally figured out what he was doing....eavesdropping on our conversation. I wrote down our address and gave it to him. So, if you see 'LV security guard' posting, you'll know. I'm always recruiting....

Got it. Thanks for following up on it. I still am having trouble with my voice. Us northern girls just can't handle 111°. Give me winter, or give me death!

Here's Faraday's post:
I have received the following message from the Leadership Institute: [Faraday]:
The pleasure was all ours this weekend. We, The Leadership Institute, were very happy to be invited to the Free Republic Network meeting. It was great meeting you, and I look forward to working with your group in the future.
We will be in Madison, on August 31 at the University of Wisconsin. The location will be on the UW Madison campus in the Memorial Union building in the 'Old Madison Room'.
This will be a one day workshop on Grassroots Activism and it will have a small emphasis on campus activism. The workshop will begin at 9:00 and run until 4:30.
Tuition is only $49.
[Faraday], thank you very much for helping us get the word out in Wisconsin. For more information about The Leadership Institute, please go to www.leadershipinstitute.org, or call me at 800.827.5323, ext. 505.

Thanks for everything you and FRN did. There are just too many people to properly thank, and I don't want to leave off anyone! I really had a great time, and learned a ton of stuff. This thread, and
strela's thread are great!
Check out this post regarding the Madison, Wisconsin event. Do you think we can change the tone of the Midwest's answer to Berkley?????

Yes indeedy - you're one-up on me.
I will personally pack one pound of Jamaican Blue Mountain and my "travel" coffee maker, and make sure you get at least one cup of the best coffee on the planet at the next function. Bank on it.

Hey, it's your call.
Actually, I can see how a screen name of "Lusty Wench" might have some minor disadvantages...
To: Interesting Times
Hah, the disadvantages don't bother me. The plus side is I can say more as a wench than as a mom. I work in an industry where if you can't let the insults roll off you, you are useless. I have not had a situtation yet where I was annoyed or offended. Ah, the life a conservative woman. It's great. You guys can even tell us conservative gals great jokes without fear of retribution.
