Dear Freepers:
I just returned from the First Annual Free Republic Network Convention in Las Vegas.
The Free Republic Network Cruise last October was the most fun I've ever had in my whole life. The Free Republic Network Conference I just attended was the most informative and inspiring two days I've ever had in my whole life.
The Free Republic Network is stretching its muscle, not by talk, but by action. The Free Republic forum is liberty's college. The Free Republic Network is liberty's workplace.
If you attended, please use this thread to post your observations, comments and highlights of the conference. I will give mine below. But before I do, I'd like to take this time to thank Bob Johnson and the FRN board for putting on this conference. It's hard for me to find the words to adequately describe how great this experience was--and how much I learned.

Hey Dale and Sheryle - we didn't have to go through all that but we did get held up for a little over an hour because of a lightbulb that needed changing ...
To: strela
Wow. This is worthy of its own post. Care to repost it as its own thread? Really really excellent. I missed a lot of what you have in your notes. Thank you.

"And that's "A Navy Vet" in the back with the matching "VetsCoR" t-shirt."
Damn Jim, I thought your were going to call my room so we wouldn't be wearing matching outfits. You know how tacky that is? I thought I had an original Gucci.

This is worthy of its own post. Care to repost it as its own thread? My feet are like wings, dear lady. The only thing I'd like to add before I do is some more flesh to the "Internet Activism" section. I had to leave during a good portion of that, and would appreciate any other folk's notes during that portion of Saturday's proceedings to add to the record.

Yeah, I'd be grinning to if I had all those lovely ladies hanging around me.

Strela, it was so nice to meet you. Thank you for the compliment, I would say from your article, incisive would fit you. Enjoyed the lunch at the Kuhuna(?)on Sunday. Those bartenders were something, weren't they!
Hope to see you next year.

Enjoyed the lunch at the Kuhuna(?)on Sunday. Those bartenders were something, weren't they! I think that was the best part of the whole trip - just to be able to sit down in a semi-quiet environ and talk one-on-one with you, Taxman, Lowbridge, and everyone else at the table. There was so much conference material, activities, and excitement on Saturday and the Sunday AM meeting that I really didn't have my "company manners" on.
People I trust tell me that I come across as a total jerk until I get to know them, and I guess they're right. I'm glad that I know you now.
(And hey, if there's free alcohol to be had, you won't have to look very hard to find me) ;)
The pleasure was all mine. Be well, and may our paths cross again soon.

"Whatever team is on the offense the longest, wins." -- regardless of their truthfulness (yes, thinking of carville & co!)
Thanks for the additional details -- I'm taking them to heart (spare me? please don't!). I hope you have recovered well from the trip & excitement! -- cynic#456,789

OPH is such a wonderful man, .30.
It was weird. I had never met OPH before. I knew it was OPH the second I saw him. He has such presence!

It's that "you were always my FRiend" thing. Some day I'll meet you, too, I hope!
See if you can talk Jim into coming to Vermont next time - Stowe, for instance, has great conference facilities! ( ;

Yep, that looks like OPH.
A drink in one hand and the other arm around a pretty girl.
Though I get the feeling that it's usually his wife. ;^)

How many democrats did it take to change the light bulb?
To: .30Carbine
I hope so, too, .30. You know how much I care for you. When I found out how happy you were, it made my happy.
God Bless you and Tiger, .30.
