Dear Freepers:
I just returned from the First Annual Free Republic Network Convention in Las Vegas.
The Free Republic Network Cruise last October was the most fun I've ever had in my whole life. The Free Republic Network Conference I just attended was the most informative and inspiring two days I've ever had in my whole life.
The Free Republic Network is stretching its muscle, not by talk, but by action. The Free Republic forum is liberty's college. The Free Republic Network is liberty's workplace.
If you attended, please use this thread to post your observations, comments and highlights of the conference. I will give mine below. But before I do, I'd like to take this time to thank Bob Johnson and the FRN board for putting on this conference. It's hard for me to find the words to adequately describe how great this experience was--and how much I learned.

Okey dokey. It is hard to read some of the mean and spiteful attempts at reputation destruction and not comment.

Where did you find an "In-and-Out Burger" joint? That's the one thing I miss from California. "Whataburger" in Texas just doesn't come close to the joy of eatting a "Double Double" from "In-and-Out." I didn't find it -- I just hung on while The Shrew pointed Snowbunny and Fall Guy in various directions where he thought an In-And-Out might be. I couldn't have been more lost if they'd blindfolded me.
I have to say it was well worth the trip, though.
Hey, I don't think I got the chance to tell you that your presentation tape was excellent. Thanks for the hard work...

"We're doing some of that -- perhaps you noticed Taxman and Sauropod at the conference?"
Actually, I spoke with both of them. Didn't remember what Chapter they were from. That's good news.

Skeet:
Good to hear from you. I don't know why I didn't find this thread earlier. Oh well.
The takebackcongress.org project got a huge shot in the arm from all the volunteers that signed up to help.
Great conference. I hope all FREEPERS can attend next year.

I admit that I myself got sucked into the vortex, but let's remember and utilize the things we learned last weekend.
1. Set the agenda.
2. Stay on topic.
3. Repetition of message.

I know what you mean and was very close to firing off a volley or two.
Serenity now...Serenity now!
All is well. "Relax and enjoy."

re your 449, thanks for the kind words. I do like my toys, and do like working at a place that keeps me well-supplied with them.
I think next event I'll ship in a bunch of our electronic bullhorns (for Freeps) as door prizes. 50 watts of power on the hoof - drowns out the riff-raff, dontcha know! Some of them even play Hava Nagilah ;)

RedWing9 was an intimidating head of security yet cuddly at the same time There's not a thing wrong with RedWing9 that cheering for a decent hockey team wouldn't cure ;)

Give it a rest. Your passion for defending "the cause" is blinding you to the fact that you are alienating people that otherwise agree with you in principle.
We all know where you are coming from, but you certainly don't know where Mr. Muth was coming from as you weren't there at the conference to catch the full context of his comments (although several conference attendees have tried to explain Murth's intent.)
The key point of why Mr. Muth brought up the abortion issue is that it is a devisive issue that needlessly divides people that otherwise would work together politically. And having your candidate get at least 1 more vote than his opponent is how we control policy and get conservative judges appointed.
Being "dead right" (losing the election but keeping moral purity) is not a goal to aspire to. Being in a political winning position to effect your desired change in policy is.

It's "Relax, enjoy" I think I'd punctuate it this way:
"Relax. Enjoy."

Perhaps they'll turn themselves loose on the leftists one of these days instead of working so hard to ostracize, belittle, attack and silence the likes of you or me.Some nerve you have. You jump into a thread and attempt to hijack it to rail on your own pet issue. Then when you get soundly and justly rebuffed, you cry foul and claim you are being pursecuted.
All I can say is - seek help.

Relax and enjoy in that Desert Heat?
Thank goodness for air conditioning! (and the fact it really wasn't that hot)

Auntie Mame, earlier you mentioned a 'Freeper Chorus', but some of us are way ahead on that. We just may have a whole freeper band by the next national meeting! (Heads up to HangFire, IT, Shrew, and EVEN Sen. Pardek (who doesn't know about it yet)!)
anymouse, it was nice to see you again. BTW, who was the darling girl you introduced me to on Monday morning? :-)
To: LurkerNoMore!
Yep, the Nevada Heat was terrible...
To: dittomom
Gotta keep those grassroots fertilized!Unfortunately a few FReepers not willing to attend the FRN conference are more than willing to over-"fertilize" on this thread. :(
To: strela
Bullhorns! Yes! Now that is a doorprize any respectable freeper would jump for. I'll see you at the next conference. Let me know if you need help with the funding for those bullhorns. Great idea!
