Free Republic Network Conference a Roaring Success! Participants post your comments here
Free Republic | August 18, 2002 | Auntie Mame

Dear Freepers:

I just returned from the First Annual Free Republic Network Convention in Las Vegas.

The Free Republic Network Cruise last October was the most fun I've ever had in my whole life. The Free Republic Network Conference I just attended was the most informative and inspiring two days I've ever had in my whole life.

The Free Republic Network is stretching its muscle, not by talk, but by action. The Free Republic forum is liberty's college. The Free Republic Network is liberty's workplace.

If you attended, please use this thread to post your observations, comments and highlights of the conference. I will give mine below. But before I do, I'd like to take this time to thank Bob Johnson and the FRN board for putting on this conference. It's hard for me to find the words to adequately describe how great this experience was--and how much I learned.

I'm sure proud to have been part of this wonderful event. I can't begin tell you how impressive these people are. The thoughtfullness of their words, the quality of their questions, and the depth of their experience sure gave me more than I bargained for.

BUMP THAT!!! ... doubled and redoubled.

I was shocked when informed ... but gratefully attended and accepted on behalf of all those who participated in the Marches for Liberty, who helped clear the Jarbidge Road, who used their liberty teeth and their pens to send messages via the 50 Million Round Marches, who stood in the breach at Klamath Falls and who signed the WTC Flag Raising Petition.

Somone even created photographic evidence of my being at the event LOL!

Fregards my friend, hope all is well with you and the missus and yours. God's richest blessings on you.

You guys are soooo right about Askel5. She's a real pain in the ass. All she does is ruin threads with her abortion this and abortion that. You guys at the Network were so right on to target Askel5 to be run off the FAB--good job, BTW, she quit shortly after the Network targeted her.

The Network's bullying and harrassment of those who don't toe the line has been quite successful in drawing people to your events. I mean, averaging 80 attendees per national event (the cruise and Friva) is a testament to how well folks have taken to the Network's 'STFUP or we'll run you off' attitude.

You guys are the best! Who's next?

but as near as I can recollect, it involved a friend with a sailboat at Key West, illicit runs to Havana for cheap cigars, drinks and girls

Old sailing stories are the best ... I could tell many. One involves a collision with a freight train! ... maybe later!

Great meeting you ... it was a wonderful conference.

WHEW!

I would like to thank everyone involved in the FRiva production. The conference committee of Sauropod, RedWing9, The Shrew, DoughtyOne, Libertina and Bob J worked very hard for the conference.

And there would be no conference at all with out the hard work of Bob J.

His Royal Podness did a great job setting up the Activism Panel; The Shrew arranged the speakers and was always there when I needed him (Actually before I knew I would need him he was magically there!); D1 handled the registration, made the name tags and was the video master; RedWing9 was an intimidating head of security yet cuddly at the same time; and Libertina helped me set up the menu (YUM!) and was sorely missed at the event.

Auntie Mame, BADJOE, Exit 148, and others were unbelievable at handling the check in registration process, Interesting Times the BOD's singer and pianist provided the entertainement, and so many other people were constantly offering their help.

***PROPS TO STRELA! Who donated the door prizes***

Of course, RADIOFR's very own Anna Z hosted the radio broadcast of the banquet as only she can do, which was the icing on the cake.

I was so pleased to meet so many freepers at this event. The speakers were great and the Leadership Institute seminars were very informative. My favorite part of the conference was the meeting we all had together on Sunday, discussing the future of FRN. Although I am still recovering from exhaustion (and some bad luck at the tables, LOL) I feel a great sense of hope for the future of FRN activism and faith in the wonderful people who were so supportive at the meeting. It was very encouraging to see your enthusiasm and listen to your thoughts and ideas. We are moving full speed ahead and I am glad to have you all on board.

It was a pleasure and an honor to meet all of you, and I will see you at the next "big event!"

In the words of "Roberta" an important character in a great movie I just saw, its time for me to "Relax, Enjoy" before getting back to work.

He did an awesome job, but I was not intimidated, much less cuddled.

Thank you so much for checking in. Many of us had forgotten to give kudos where kudos were due. Strela, your prizes were wonderful! The door prizes were the perfect epilog to a most wonderful evening. And Interesting Times is a musician! Who would have thought that? I LOVE that song and Freepers have such good voices! I thought as we sang we should have a Freeper choir. (I noticed on the cruise also how good Freeper voices are. We really should think about it.)

Right. We disagreed with her about something, she quit shortly thereafter, and it's our fault.

So if I quit the Forum tomorrow, it'll be Askel5's and your fault, right?

The Network's bullying and harrassment of those who don't toe the line has been quite successful in drawing people to your events.

This is simply a lie. My "bullying and harrassment" consisted of trying to prevent Askel5 from hijacking this thread. Obviously neither of you can stand to see that the FRIVA attendees were impressed and had a good time.

If we're the bullies, how is it that you attack our threads and we leave yours alone or bump them? Also, our guys presented your chapter with an award last weekend and never said a disparaging word. Would you have been capable of such courtesy?

I mean, averaging 80 attendees per national event (the cruise and Friva) is a testament to how well folks have taken to the Network's 'STFUP or we'll run you off' attitude.

Kristinn, I had some respect for you once, but between your blind support of AntiFreeper Connie's lies and slander, your dishonesty, and your relentless attacks on your fellow conservatives, it's gone now.

Could you be cajoled into posting a new thread about that Sunday meeting? I am desolate I couldn't go and would really like to know how it went. It must be a story unto itself.

Ms. Ingraham is pretty here, but in person she's about 100 times prettier. Jim's looking might fine himself.

I think my favorite part was the video presentation - Bravo for Anymouse and lowbridge!

Thanks for the complement. As I said in my introduction to the FReeper video slide show presentation, all of the active FReepers are the real stars of that show. I just tried to document the FReep actions and FRN chapter gatherings as best I could.

There was a lot of good photos "left on the cutting room floor" as well as FReeps that never were photographically recorded (or the photos lost in the Photopoint implosion.) Hopefully we can do better about retaining photos from our FReeps, so we can make future FReeper slide shows (and FreeRepublic and FRN promotional material) easier to produce.

BTW, congratulations on your award for best new FRN chapter. Don't sell youself short, you are making a big difference in rallying FReepers to keep the heat on the lamestream media to report the truth or suffer the consequences - loss of market share - bankrupcy.

From the fog I remember IT saying he was going to pull his notes together regarding the Sunday meeting. We are having our weekly board meeting tomorrow night and I will make sure we make it a priority to pull our notes together for distribution.
