A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 8/15/02

President Bush headed to South Dakota today to promote his economic and homeland security packages. In a speech in front of Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, Bush called for congress to act quickly on the proposed cabinet-level position of homeland defense. The President also stated that the current homeland package proposed from the Senate strips him of authority to exempt agencies from collective bargaining requirements if national security demands it. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

"I hope the Secret Service was watching out for the bad guy (black hat) in pic 2 of post 12. Maybe that is Daschle!" Daschle would have to be on stilts to be the guy in the black hat :-)

Well, our SS Guy was there, even though he doesn't show up in any of these pics ...... I always feel good about his being around.
Btw, because our reception on FOX is not as good as some of the other channels, when the President is speaking, I sometimes flip around to try to get a better picture ..... and, out of curiosity, to see if the competition is carrying the speech.
As much as it hurts to say this, I will have to admit that sometimes CNN will show the President greeting the crowd after the speeches ...... FOX virtually always cuts away as soon as he finishes speaking.
That's when, where, and how I saw SS Guy.

Was Daschle actually there? I didn't hear W mention his name, but I tuned in a few minutes late. I heard him thank several people, but not Tom Thumb.

Saw pix of Tom Twit-he was in the background, his face was all smooshed up-squinting from the sun. I don't believe that the Twit knows the meaning of the word gracious or statesman, as he must have knocked over a few senior citz, rushing to a mic, to start his trashing of GW. What a contrast between the two!!

I listened to the speech and I heard on the Brit Hume show that he was there with his arms crossed looking down most of the time.
Maybe he was in the third row and nobody could see him :-)

Thanks for the great Picture rintense. It is always such a pleasure to check out the dose.(even when I skip a day or two or three or fou...)

He must have been overshadowed by all the real men who were there. It's surprising to me that with the President's good manners he didn't mention him by name. He did mention him by innuendo several times when he raked Congress over the coals.

Yes, he acknowledged little tommy for being there ...... and then proceeded to blast the Senate for tons of things they haven't passed.
I understand that afterwards little tommy called the President a dictator for wanting more control of the new Homeland Security Department ...... quite ironic since little tommy has single-handedly blocked so many nominations and pieces of legislation by not letting them come to the floor of the Senate for a vote. Now that's being a dictator!

I wonder if Dubya's getting tough on the Dems. I mean because he didn't introduce Daschle. If so, YAY!

How comforting to find this site.
Have been enjoying the lovely state of Michigan this week spending time in Boyne City (several hours in the library to get a little freeping in), Waloon Lake and ending up with a few days near Mt. Pleasant. Thank god, from today until home on Sunday, I have regular access to a computer.
Great pictures Rintense. It gets so discouraging if all you hear is the main stream media...(i.e. our liberal in laws are buying the line that GW is taking a whole month off while our country is suffering) They are both doctorate level college professors.... how very sad....
Anyway, thanks for the boost. I LOVE our president and his family!

Hi all, These are great pictures tonight. I did not get to see all of his speech. I am having a lot of trouble with my new medicine for fibro. Guess it will take a while to start working. Thanks for the pictures.

Howdy everybody!
Rintense: Great pictures as usual!
I don't know if anyone's noticed but that first picture posted here gave me goosebumps!
it was as if George Washington was listening very attentavely to Our President Bush and saying "Atta Boy! George!".
I know it sounds goofy, but that was the impression I got. one of approval from #1 to #43!

Thank you for the link. I think I only missed the first 2-3 minutes where he might have mentioned Daschle. Bookmarking this to read later because it was a GREAT speech! It's a riddle to me why the good people of South Dakota keep Daschle in the Senate.

I think he is getting tough on the Dems. There seem to be new talking points lately indicating W isn't going to let them blame the results of their eight years of greed on him.
