Real resistance must start now. People have got to speak up. I'm not talking about writing our "representatives". I'm talking about our own personal sphere of influence. For instance, when people speak spanish or another language in your presence, say "don't you know it's rude to speak a foreign language in front of someone that doesn't understand it? It's like whispering secrets". Or something to that effect.

They won't become good citizens of this country until they have respect for this country. They won't respect this country if they don't respect the people. And they won't respect the people until they give them standards to live up to.

I tell them "This is America and we speak English here". I always get a dirty look from them like I just spit in their face or something. They are rude, obnoxious, and really just don't give a damn about this country. All they want to do is rape it of everything we've spent the last 200+ years developing. I just wonder once they turn it into a third world sh*thole where they're going to go then.

The Anglo has no place in America today! As a matter of fact the USA is fast heading in the direction Russia just traveled and maybe even faster than we think. We have gutless, self centered politicians who would sell their wives and daughters for power and money. It is about time to take a stand of some kind.We as citizens are having our rights taken away daily and those in power are catering to aliens. My days are numbered but I hate like hell to leave this mess for those I love. I no longer feel any obligation to my hame state because they have taken my right to defend myself away and my Central Government is selling the rest of them to the highest bidder! And by the way who do you think it will be up to when it comes to fighting the war, look at the faces in Afganistan. They are willing to die to protect this crap here at home.

My father, one of the most racist pigs I've ever known used to get mad when hearing people speak foreign languages. He would say the usual....."You're in America! Speak English!" Not to them, but to anyone around who would listen.

I think your idea if flawed. Dad always did it because he's a racist pig. I think most people would assume that is why ANYONE is doing it.

And my wife would probably reply, "Don't you know it's rude to insist on eavesdropping on every conversation near you? Honest, we weren't talking about how small your manhood is."

Or even better: In English, mention to your companion that they sound like terrorists planning another attack against America, and to keep an eye on them while you call the tip in. If they don't understand English, no problem, they'll get to deal with La migra in due time. And if they leave the area in a great hurry, you may have found some real suspects. Call in the description of the vehicle in which they've left and its license plate number, and report them as possible drunk drivers. That'll likely get a quicker response from most donut munchers than a certain spotting of terrorists with weapons and explosives.

"when people speak spanish or another language in your presence, say "don't you know it's rude to speak a foreign language in front of someone that doesn't understand it? It's like whispering secrets".

I deal with this all the time and I just get furious. While I am really not able to say anything directly as in most of these cases I am at work and it would be considered inappropriate, I do give them some looks. This country is being overrun with immigrants and illegals and apart from Rep.Tancredo, it seems that congress just can't be bothered with it. The point is, everybody is too afraid to do the politically incorrect thing and do anything that might offend anybody, never mind that we are offended every day by these people being in our face and inescapable, and the language is a biggie. I don't know about you, but I have an entirely different reaction to English speaking Mexicans than I do to Spanish speaking ones.

"They won't become good citizens of this country until they have respect for this country"

I think it is evident that they have no respect for this country. Many, if not most, broke our laws to get here. Many of those continue to break our laws once they arrive. They have no desire to assimilate into our culture. They form little pockets of population that retain their own culture and in most places where I have spent a lot of time, their neighborhoods are dirty and unpleasant, a far cry from the good, hard-working, family-oriented people that we are constantly hearing about. While I know that there are some like that, most of my first-hand experience has proven the opposite.

I think a better approach is to learn Spanish yourself. For one it's quite easy to learn, it makes travelling in Mexico or Latin America much more fun. It really helps dealing with this kind of co-worker who does this. You never have to let on that you know every word they're saying, they will assume you don't. You never have to speak Spanish if you don't with to ---especially in this country and they should be encouraged to learn English.

Here's a story for you... I went hiking with some friends, two of whom are Korean, one of them a guy with a really Korean thick accent.. and I mean VERY thick..

ok so we're walking across this little bridge, which has this white guy fishing on it.. dressed in camouflage gear with a swastika tatooed on his biceps.. we walk by and one of the Koreans says something to the other in Korean.. the white dude goes "Enggggglish!" and glares at us.. so the guy with the thick accent says "sorry, have a good day" in English but his accent is so damn thick that the white guy repeats himself.. "Enggggglish!!!"...

HA! I've got one better. A Mexican man in a convenience store spoke disparagingly to a young woman thinking that neither she or anyone else would know what he was saying.
I promptly, in Spanish, told him to shut his mouth, told him what he said and then told him that all Americans weren't monolingual.

The expression on his face was priceless! His jaw could've been used for a dustpan. A Spanish speaking Gringo! I'm sure he was taught that there was no such thing.

Finally someone start to talk some sence on this forum. When I suggest people to speak English and not their noisy native tongue at work e.g. I am suddenly the bad guy for some reason. Even the people at freerepublic.com thinks I am bad for suggesting people to stick to English.
