I'm putting together a Linux box. Want to run Apache and maybe a perl interpreter. Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best version of Linux? Where do I go for that best version? How about Apache? What is the best perl development environment?
Keeping in mind, of course, that Free is Good.

Go with Red Hat Laz.

Gimme a good ol' German Lager any day. (I know, I'm irish and I *should* like Guinness, but I just don't. I don't like corned beef & cabbage though either.)

I bet I saw them in the computer room on occasion.
Do you play at Sat Cong Village by any chance?

I tried the Mandrake Linux distribution. Everything worked OK except for the sound card - which wasn't supported. Back to Windows 2000 for me!

Hi Duke. I'm a former PC user who is now using nothing but Apple machines. I have one PC left that I keep around for plotting purposes, but once all of the drivers I need get updated for OSX then I'm shutting the PC down once and for all! I've just had it with the insanity of trying to keep a PC working. There's always something wrong, if it's not one thing it's another. I finally just gave up. I've owned my new Imac for about three months now, I've only rebooted it four times, and that was for new software installations/updates that required it! I'm using Mozilla for a browser. OSX rules! Say goodbye to MicroSquish, get on the OSX bandwagon. You'll be glad you did.
