Concerning the internment of Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor: I wonder if the NEA recommends discussing FDR's and Earl Warren's role in this process? Somehow I doubt if any brickbats are thrown their way.

For any of you who may be educators and not know about this, here is a fine alternative to the NEA/AFT drivel:

Homeschooling is not an option for those who do not have the skills to be an effective home school teacher. (some people know their limits)

Computers are doing a much better job of teaching now than public schools. $600 for a computer. $100 for software. Too bad that public education funds can't be used for a simple program like that. They would rather send the student to public school for almost $6000 a year, and subject them to all kinds of trash.

Way to go, EdReform. Please consider my previous post as well. I've seen kids learning on computers and am very excited about the future of NON-REGULATED education. Kids are addicted to those learning programs. It's amazing how quickly they learn from them. And the other benefits... cheaper alternative. Easy for the parent to get started. Parent is in complete control of the child's environment. Lastly, social skills can be obtained by the child in the place of the parent's choice, rather than have the kid herded to the pig troth of public schools.

BARF ALERT. The NEA =Censorship, hiding the truth and failing to teach our children the truth about our rich, and glorious heritage........

Most people who think they do not have the skills to homeschool are underestimating themselves. The most important factor in successfully teaching your own children is the DESIRE to do so.

Indeed. I always thought of my sister as a little scatter-brained but I love her dearly. She homeschools her three kids and does a butt kicking job. They took their latest tests last week (State test) and aced it - again. Her kids are in the 8-12 range and are nothing at all like other kids in that range. They can have intelligent conversations about almost anything, they still play with toys, they crave new learning toys, the youngest has his own knife collection and hunts with dad. Way to go sis!

Thanks for posting! I love to hear success stories like that. I will admit that in the eleven years that I've homeschooled, I have known one family that shouldn't have homeschooled. But only one. And I've known at least a hundred homeschooling families.

If you can get your kids to enjoy learning and to learn how to learn, they can excel despite your "scatter-brainedness", lol. Good for your sister!
