Since there aren't any photos today, I thought we could try something new. Instead of posting your favorite photos, let's have a friendly debate (and I mean friendly, damn it!)

Tonight's topic: Media stories about Iraq: Pentagon plants or True stories. Discuss.

RULES: 1. Be respectful of others' opinions.
2. If you use sources, please cite them.
3. No flaming!
4. See rule 1.

Rummy said that he planned a "disinformation campaign". And we all know that the Liberals would like to leak stories of any plans that the Admin or DoD has in order to discredit them.
This stuff might be interesting, but very few of us know enough to pick the fact from fiction.

What it means to all of us is that Saddam is probably not sleeping well :-)

Oh I think that's entirely possible. Give the fact that Rummy stated eralier this year that the reports released by the Pentagon may or may not be true, I think he's having a field day with the media! Only GWB, Cheney, Rummy and Rice know for sure what's gonna happen.

Oh, good. I wanted a place to talk about this, because I just heard Connie Chung (whom I normally don't watch) devote 10 minutes to an interview with the CNN bureau chief from Beirut, in which he went over how creepy and evil Saddam is, complete with details of his son bludgeoning a valet to death and the execution of his two sons-in-law.

Now, does this mean that CNN is in on psy-ops? Does it mean that they think we are going to war, and they want to make sure they get to cover it? Or, does it mean they think we aren't ready and they are trying to push us into war?

This makes my head hurt.

Against the grain... Ha!

How about those Grapenuts? They're not grapes. They're not nuts. Who were the ad wizards who came up with this one?

It's all part of the plan... in the end, Saddam and the liberal media will look like crying little girls.

I believe they are planted stories. President Bush hates leaks and everyone knows it. He demands loyalty or you're gone. I don't believe anyone would dare leak really important stuff. These are just plants to get everyone ready. One day we will be watching FNC and start seeing pictures of the missiles hitting Iraq.

I think most of the stories are well planned leaks; the rest are the media jumping on the bandwagon like lemmings. They're doing a great job of keeping the American people and Saddam on edge. The administration could be taking the voters' pulse to see if we have the appetite to get this done. If we attack, W will take a lesson from his father and go in with the full might of our power.

Who makes Depends? We should probably buy stock in that company since most Mideast leaders will have a spontaneous, collective loss of fecal matter when this goes down. Not to mention that Saddam is probably peeing his pants.

Remember, CNN got a jump start when the Gulf War started. I'm sure they're looking forward to another war to boost their lackluster ratings. They'll drag out the old crew: Christiana Amanpour, Peter Arnet - - maybe they'll pull Bernie out of mothballs!

This is why I think Armey is babbling like a fool. He either truly doesn't know and hates it, or he's just part of the game.

I was watching CNN when the Iraqis invaded Kuwait. It was like 3am in the morning and I remember waking up my mom telling her that her sons were probably headed to war. One of them did.

I was sick, but stayed up all night watching the war. My husband called out of work the next day & we stayed in bed glued to the tv for the first two days of that war.

Remembering the Gulf War, I remember how they had those Marines all prepared for an amphibious landing, and the media went on and on about it. Then we came in through the desert.

We have that big air base in Quatar that made the news, and some other things. Cheney and Powell, the sneak end run people, are in this administration as well.

Now, why was Powell on a rush trip to SE Asia last week? Why is Putin so quiet? Why are we getting all these sudden cold feet articles from Britain and Germany?

I am certain that when things eventually happen, we will be able to see that the clues were right in front of us. But until those things happen, I can only say that intelligence analysts have a VERY difficult job.
