Since there aren't any photos today, I thought we could try something new. Instead of posting your favorite photos, let's have a friendly debate (and I mean friendly, damn it!)
Tonight's topic: Media stories about Iraq: Pentagon plants or True stories. Discuss.
RULES: 1. Be respectful of others' opinions.
2. If you use sources, please cite them.
3. No flaming!
4. See rule 1.

Ok regulars, this is something really different. Let's have some fun with this one. Hasn't anyone else find the media's obsession with Iraq just a bit rabid lately???? Is it well-founded concern or buzzards swarming for a story????

It's interesting how almost every major news organization has published reports on how the US will attack Iraq. Who do you think is right and when will we attack Iraq?

I'll be the first to reply.
The stories are total plants. We are going to wake up one morning soon and turn on our TVs to see pictures of the crater that used to be Baghdad. No massive invasion.

Wow, I made the top 100 tonight! :)
Thanks for the ping, rintense, and great to have the visual aids in one spot!

Bush seems to be presented with THE plan to invade Iraq every day, and the media is breathless to report it. I think it's a hoot. All these stories might be just enough to scare a few Iraqi colonels into plugging Saddam with about 20 ounces of lead. It doesn't sound like it would take too much too drive his son, Uday, over the edge either.
Sorry, guess I'm not being being too respectful of Saddam.

I think only the President knows. Honestly, the key is to watch activity in Crawford. If you see high-ranking members of Congress show up for a visit, I'd be very suspicious that they are being briefed on evidence for us to go after him. The President's meeting with King Abdullah also strikes me as odd, because they both had very different things to say. Now, that may be posturing on the King's part, but I'm hoping that the President knows of the evidence against Iraq and will send Cheney over again.
What the media is failing to report (except for FOX) is that Iraq is and has continually been in violation of the treaty ending the Gulf War. That alone is enough to go after him.

Apple Jacks, by far.
To: cmsgop
Apple Jacks are probably more conservative, but I prefer Frosted Flakes :)

Oh Frosted Flakes. Apple Jacks reek of subliminal socialistic brainwashing of young children. Plus, they just taste bad.

Is it possible the Bush administration is "leaking" these stories in order to throw Saddam off?
To: rintense
My prediction is that Saddam will be executed by one of his own generals when the rumors of war becomes to great for them to see their soldiers get slaughtered again. The Iraqi people will demand elections and we will support them while they structure a new government. Iran will probably start the ball rolling first by overthrowing the religious finatics who are losing their control more and more.
I see the finatics being marginalized or killed off once a couple of these finatical regimes fall.

:(
I have a feeling we'll be having a few pictureless days, so instead of using up all the favorites, I thought this would be a nice change.

Rummy said that he planned a "disinformation campaign". And we all know that the Liberals would like to leak stories of any plans that the Admin or DoD has in order to discredit them.
This stuff might be interesting, but very few of us know enough to pick the fact from fiction.
What it means to all of us is that Saddam is probably not sleeping well :-)
