The incredible minds of FreeRepublic

Posted on 08/08/2002 5:48:46 PM PDT by rintense

Since there aren't any photos today, I thought we could try something new. Instead of posting your favorite photos, let's have a friendly debate (and I mean friendly, damn it!)

Tonight's topic: Media stories about Iraq: Pentagon plants or True stories. Discuss.

RULES: 1. Be respectful of others' opinions.
2. If you use sources, please cite them.
3. No flaming!
4. See rule 1.

We are going to wake up one morning soon and turn on our TVs to see pictures of the crater that used to be Baghdad. No massive invasion

I got a feeling you may be right there .. except we are gonna have to send in troops eventually .. I don't think there is any way around that one

I expect he'll end up inviting her, too.... I don't see how he can avoid it now that she has made such a big deal of it publically. If it were me I'd let her stew but it would be a cold day before she got an invitation to visit the ranch or attend the townhall.

#41 is in a situation that I don't think anyone in history has ever experienced before ..... certainly not in U.S. history.

As a young man, he fought in a war and saw what hell it is.

As President he had the heavy burden of sending our young men and women off to battle, knowing all too well what they would be facing and that there would be some injured and killed.

Now as a father, he has to see his son shouldering that responsibility too.

No one else can possibly understand just what the son is living with than his father. He must be so full of pride and concern that it's beyond our comprehension. I keep him in my prayers in a special way.

..... I suspect that the role of father is the most difficult of all for him. It's much easier for a parent to endure just about anything than to see their children doing so.

I don't know. Normally I would think he would invite her, but she was trying to see him in Washington before he left. If he really thinks the bill that she is pushing is a bad idea, he won't want to sign it.

And last but not least, I for one would love to see her beg and be ignored. The phone won't ring. Just like #97 treats other people [run over policemen for instance]. And why would any self respecting NY police officer want to go anywhere with her after she ran that other officer down and didn't apologize? Beg Hitlery, beg. You aren't as cute as Barney.

Don't forget our "friends" the Saudis. What is the story with them?

Not to make excuses for those POS but if they came out and sided with us .. The Sauidi Princes would have to run for the hills because there would be a lench mob beating down there door

With that said .. I don't want to have anything to do with those people

The signs are all there, then there is the curious timing of the Secret Service's announcement that they are expanding the protective zone around the White House.

That sparked my attention also

I didn't know that she had tried to see him before he left DC. LOL That is probably why she is pulling this stuff. I understand he is opposed to her bill because the services are already covered in another bill so it would be a double dip from the budget.

Since she is shamelessly using those firemen and ironworkers for self promotion I guess she plans to pick up the tab for their travel expenses... Yeah, right. FOFL

I find myself wondering if they are the source of some of these leaks ..... trying to force things to happen the way they want them to happen rather than the way they should occur.

I think the odds of that are very good

And you are right .. Rummy and the President were very upset about those leaks

Following is the comment I made about the picture, and why it is so precious to me:

I have always believed the President whispered to his wife: "Honey, no matter what happens, we'll always have each other".

I believe that's what every wife wants to hear from her husband.
