While there is some beautiful scenery in California, I would give the nod to that state, primarily because of all the liberal wankers living there. New Jersey would be a good choice, as well, but CA gets the nod.

That's right-----pick on New Jersey!

As soon as I saw the title, I knew you guys would be out in droves, picking on this neat little state!

Funny - tho, I have heard of apology after apology, from out-of-state-people ---- after they move here, and really see the state for themselves.

I'm from Massachusetts, and would NEVER go back there. My mother literally cried when she realized that I was going to marry someone from Jersey -- until she visited - and did a complete turn-about.

But all the above is about the state as a whole -- physically.

Now ----- having said all that,---- my husband once said that when God gave the world a physic, (purge -- enema to all you in Rio Linda) it came out in Jersey City. We all know what happened to Jersey City when Bret Schundler took over, so there is hope yet for places like that. I think that Camden, or Irvington would now qualify for the 'worstest' of all.

However, if we are talking about "political armpits", maybe New Jersey can give the rest of the states some lessons. The demonstration that our GOP put on in last year's Governor's election, showed just how high we are up the 'armpit' ladder. I think our problem is having so many urban areas in such a small, highly populated state. It is a politician's delight.

If we are talking about 'armpit cities', then we have a good share of them, and can go to the top of the BO heap. There isn't a state, that I have seen, that is all pearly pure.

I hope that NJ can stun all of you in the next Senatorial election. I only hope I will be stunned as well!

(Go Forrester Go!!)

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA Draws Fire, Lawsuit for Assigning Book on Islam Washington Post Staff Writer

Wednesday, August 7, 2002; Page A01

No one complained two years ago when the University of North Carolina required its incoming freshmen to read a book about the lingering effects of the Civil War, nor last year when it assigned a book about a Hmong immigrant's struggle with epilepsy and American medicine.

. . . But a national TV talk show host, Fox News Network's Bill O'Reilly, compared the assignment to teaching "Mein Kampf" in 1941 and questioned the purpose of making freshmen study "our enemy's religion." . . . © 2002 The Washington Post Company

Could it be North Carolina?

District of Colombia even if it's not a state. It even pollutes the surrounding states within a 50 mile radius.

I've visited every state in the union except Hawaii.........and lived in more than my fair share of them. California gets a bum rap here, frankly. Yeah, sure, they have MORE than their share of leftist twits, no doubt. I hate their post Reagan/Wilson politics. Still......a gorgeous state with LOTS to do. Here's a shocker for ya: the majority of California, geographically/demographically speaking, is really quite conservative. It's a conservative, agricultural state more than anything else. However, you have those big bags o' worms called the Bay Area (pretty as it is) and the LA region that are just flat eaten UP with it; that's why you get the jerks in office from CA that you get.

Every state has its pluses and minuses. The real truth? It usually comes down to the people and how many of them you get to know......and how well you get to know them. Just one example: we lived in what is largely considered to be an "armpit" known as Abilene, Texas..........transferred there in the AF, but stayed for a while even after separating. Had a BALL there, because the people were every bit as terrific as the surrounding countryside was bleak, barren, dry, and shi**y-looking. :)

Mississippi

...that is, until the day the squirrel went beserk
In the First Self-Righteous Church
In the sleepy little town of Pascagoula
It was a fight for survival that broke out in revival
They were jumpin' pews and shoutin' Hallelujah!

gotcha! ;o)

Well, I don't know about what state, but unless things have changed in a major way, the town that is the armpit of NY State is Troy, NY. I was there in the late seventies, and it was a major-league sh**hole then. Maybe it has improved since then...

How can a state be an armpit? No state qualifies, IMHO.

However, states are inhabited by many armpits of varying degrees of pits.

I always thought Wilkes-Barre, PA was the assh0le of the country. They've already got the hole in the ground for the nozzle.

I can't go by states since there is a lot of regionalism within states. That said.

1. Washington DC
2. Hollywood(Henry Waxman)
3. Broward County, FL
4. Palm Beach County, FL
5. Montgomery County, MD
6. Cambridge, MA
7. Bezerkely, CA
