On behalf of Georgia, I have to say, great job opportunities there. They elected Bob Barr and other strong conservatives. Beautiful beaches.

And, that is not even mentioning Barbra, Alec, Julia, Susan Saranwrap, Ed Asner, etc.

I think people out east don't hear about some of the strange things that happen north of us. The things they say in Washington (state that is) even shocks people in Frisco sometimes!

You are right on all points. Not one person I know has ever voted for Teddy. Yet he gets in with NO problem. When I do ask friends or relatives who they are planning on voting for during an election the answer I get is..Gee I don't know yet.
Then when the DemoCraps win in a landslide they claim they never voted for them. Yeah right!
They have had City Councilmen in jail for selling sidewalk contracts, who still got re-elected while IN JAIL!(in the 50's)
AND the only state McGovern won!

Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world...

I've visited there three times and thought the same thing.....

Except that they built it 500 miles too far north.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It all depends on the criteria you want to use. Most here are focusing on the political, in which case Massachussetts or California are strong contenders. Hawaii is too, for that matter.

Hawaii probably has the best climate, though, so maybe it's eliminated. North Dakota may have the worst, but that's only if you hate a freezing hell over a sweating hell along the Gulf Coast.

I'm a California native who left there over 20 years ago. I know its beauty and its riches. But it ain't the place I left.

I guess I don't really have an opinion on the worst. Every place has advantages and disadvantages, politically, economically, scenically, culturally, or any other criteria you might apply.

Right now, I'm leaning toward retiring in Costa Rica if that's any indication.

Arthur, you wretch! You've been around since the last time hell froze twice. Try some of these state mottos and make your own decision: state mottos.

And if Anna Nicole gets any plumper,California will fall in the sea.

"On behalf of Georgia, I have to say, great job opportunities there. They elected Bob Barr and other strong conservatives. Beautiful beaches."

Thank you for your kind words for my home state.

See my post #59.

While I don't consider Georgia to be the best state in the union, I don't consider it to be the worst either.

I have travelled and spent time in 15 or so states, and I can't really say anything overly negative about any specific one.

States that have left really good impressions on me have been Texas, Illinois, Virginia and the Carolinas.

Have to throw in another vote for Mexifornia. Born, raised and still live in Orange County, used to be beautiful, safe, orange groves and John Birchers, now carnecerias, traffic and hospitals closing down due to being forced to give gold medal medical care to illegals. Sad, sad state of affairs.

As a native Californian who still lives there, my vote has to go to...

NEW JERSEY!

I picked New Jersey for 2 reasons. First, it is almost as socialist as California. Second, it's New Jersey!!!!

Chester is definitely bad, but is it worse than Camden or Newark?

Ew! How about Trenton? Marcus Hook?
They all could give Chester a run for the money when it comes to ugliest and most depressing places in the U.S.
BTW I believe Chester also is oldest city in the U.S...and it looks like it.

I watched her show last night. Talk about a waste of thirty minutes. I also saw the previews of the next show, in which she sits on a sofa and lets a group of women feel her breasts.

Well, I've been to various parts of the state, and the only area I found halfway tolerable is Southern Illinois. People in the rest of the state, especially Northern Illinois, tend to be unfriendly bordering on surly, IMO.

Yes, the food is great in Chicago, but that and Wrigley Field is about the only decent thing about that city.

Illinois politicians are almost openly corrupt, taxes are high, gun laws are absurd, Democrats and RINOs completely control the state and the weather is awful.

But, other than that, it's OK, I guess. :-)

Actually, the cornfields are about the best thing about Illinois. It was a better state when there were more farmers and less Chicagoans.

Sorry to offend, but that's my honest opinion.
