The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee says there is "no doubt" Saddam Hussein would use "every weapon of mass destruction he has" against the United States if it attacks Iraq.
In an interview that aired yesterday on CNN, Sen. Carl Levin, Michigan Democrat, said Saddam could try to deliver his chemical and biological agents "with missiles, with airplanes carrying anthrax that, perhaps, could get through over Israel with trucks that have been prelocated or that agents would drive," or with ships.

The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee says there is "no doubt" Saddam Hussein would use "every weapon of mass destruction he has" against the United States if it attacks Iraq. The real reason we haven't retaliated against Saddam for 9-11 gets clearer every day.

Mr. Rumsfeld also said Iraq now has mobile biological laboratories that would be very hard to bomb. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard this stated before, certainly not officially.
If they are revealing this now it must be for a reason.

Frankly, I take all these specific claims with a pinch of salt. People need a a narrative, a hook for a story. The bottom line is, Saddam has made enormous investments in biological weapons in the past, and there is no inspection regime on earth that could ensure that he doesn't produce them or keep stockpiles cached away. It might work for nukes, but for biologicals it's a chimera -- the equipment involved is just too easy to hide. The only solution is to remove Saddam Hussein. The problem is, he already has the weapons, so what's he gonna do when we try to take him down?

I can't place where I've heard this, but you're right, it's not entirely new. (For that matter, this is essentially the same as the mobile-launcher strategy that Saddam used in the Gulf War to protect his Scud missiles from attack.)

The U.S. border(s) are a sieve. The iraqi agents could sneak in even vicente fox could sneak in and the canadian border is just as bad.

There should be more of an air war this time since he would have no need to "save" his assets for later.
I didn't say it would last long..... just more targets of oppurtunity. Do G suits restrict erections?

my reading of this and other articles indicates we'll need 18-24 mos. before the US military feels its ready for iraq....this includes the pols waffling-and then, tho we may be ready, we may not act OR it'll be too late in the sense of horrific iraq-rooted atrocities having already occurred.

One thing I am sure of: Bush and the NSC know far more than we do about Iraqi WMD, including those already in the USA, such as 100s of one kilo glass jars of anthrax, (as opposed to a half dozen one gram envelopes which were the warning and test.)

THIS IS NEXT- WE HAVE THIS ANTHRAX- YOU CAN NOT STOP US- ARE YOU AFRAID? I have scoured numerous articles and tried to dissect dozens of theories about the anthrax attack over the last several months. However, I must tell you that these few simple lines from the original anthrax letter, as you have posted them, has really resonated with me. When you set these words apart from all of the anthrax information we have been innundated with, one can clearly see that the U.S. is being blackmailed by a bio-terror threat which was an obvious planned follow-up to 9/11 and a direct link to Iraq.

Just saw on ticker on MSNBC where iraq will be providing bio-weapons to palestinians, does anyone know the source of this info,if it is credible or not?

Today's NY Post had a brief article. It references another article in the Times of London which I think is the original source of the story. I'm trying to locate it.
SADDAM BOOSTING BIOTERROR
By CLEMENTE LISI
August 4, 2002 -- Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein is suspected of planning to arm Palestinian terrorist groups with biological weapons to attack American and Israeli targets, a new report says.
A report containing a detailed assessment of the Iraqi leader's weapons of mass destruction shows that Saddam has packed his arsenal with biological weapons, The Times of London said yesterday.
Meanwhile, the United States accused Iraq yesterday of trying to dodge its commitments to the United Nations on disarmament, while Baghdad insisted its offer of talks with U.N. arms-control inspectors was genuine.
The U.S. aim of toppling Saddam has recently drawn fresh complaints from Europe and the Middle East, where leaders warn against a military assault on Iraq .

I've been hearing this for several days now (mobile bio labs) --- I'm looking for a strike against Iraq soon.
