Operation Infinite Freep; Colorado Style, August 3,2002
Colorado Chapter of Free Republic ^ | 08/03/22 | Tom Buchanan

Posted on 08/03/2002 11:01:56 PM PDT by fivetoes

It was a great day on the North East corner of Mulberry and College in Ft. Collins. Freepers in attendance this week were:
RMRattlesnake and family
Trteamer
Softengine and her two sons
fivetoes
There were several members of the VFW Post 1781, Joe and Jim and several others.
Paul and Roy from the Fife and Drum Corps, along with their newest drummer, son of RMRattlesnake.
One candidate for Larimer County Treasurer

One more time the opposition showed up a ten minutes late. We thought we were going to win by forfeit. I am convinced this battle of ideology is going to be won by perserverance. Paul and Roy from the Fife and Drum Corps showed up looking as casual as I have ever seen them, but their music was as sweet as ever. They recruited a little drummer boy, sounds like a Christmas carol.

Trteamer showed up with a new batch of signs and took up a post diagonally across the street from us. He was motivated by research done in this thread Operation Infinite Freep: Know your Enemy. He printed out several web pages of the antis and brought them to the VFW post. It made the veterans quite upset, to say the least. It was their first time seeing proof that these were not a local band of yahoos from CSU, but rather a well organized group of radicals. One of their web pages even brags about the fact that some of them spit on returning Vietnam Vets.

There was one idiot across the street that kept dancing and blowing kisses to everyone. He was getting on Softengime's nerves. I told her that was their objective to get on our nerves so that we would get frustrated and go away. I used the power of amplified voice to ask the younger crowd across the street if their parents knew they were hanging out with communists on the weekends.

We had our ceremonial saying of the Pledge, again asking them to join us and just hum along if they did not know the words. Near the end of the hour Yvonne, a long time activist, asked me if I had any pocket Constitutions with me and I reached into my little bag of tricks and produced a dozen. She then walked over to the antis and presented each of them with a copy.

One thing I have noticed is that there is much more enthusiasm on our part than theirs. They seem almost ashamed to be there. Yes, this war will be won by resentless pursuit of our ideals of freedom and liberty.

After ward we headed over to the airconditioned sanctuary of the VFW hall for some enlightening conversation and to get to now each other a little better.

Once again the Fife and Drum Corps led us to battle with the sounds of Yankee Doodle, The Marine Corps Hymn and countless other melodies.

Here's our shot of our side of the street.

No Infinite Freep is complete without a shot of our favorite sign.

The ever faithful Freedom Gals from the VFW

Once again we were joined by a candidate for Larimer County Treasurer, Steve Miller. This time he brought along his campaign manager Tyler

This honorable veteran has no trouble doing his math.

Softengine continually pointed to her watch indicating time was up, but 'they' didn't get it.

Trteamer took up his post on the SouthWest corner. We had them surrounded! He gets my vote for pre-freep work by creating several signs that he rotated throught the hour. He needs some support over there.

HEY THERE RMRATTLESNAKE!
I will be and can be the Lone Ranger if I have to, but you are certainly welcome to join me, that would be GREAT!
I am going to change a few signs and make a couple more to keep them on their toes.

HEY THERE BikerTrash!
See you there, it is getting to be more fun every week! We are also all making new like-minded friends! We get to stand our ground against tyranny and have a good time to boot. This should be catching on.

Doug,
When I saw this headline I Walked into a Crowd of War Protesters with my Sign (BOMB IRAQ) I was half expecting to see it was written by you. ;-)

The guy has got the right stuff. I wonder if the FCPD would arrest you for inciting a riot?

Steve Miller can count on my vote. I was supporting Myrna becaouse she is a long time freind she even help me out of a few jams. But Steve Miller is out there with us he is one of us and he gets my vote. My wifes vote too. I still like myrna as a person but I would rather have a Patriot as treasure.

Gee you guys, and I thought I was a troublemaker.

A couple of new things.

I have friends at Channel 5 out of Cheyenne, there might be a TV crew lurking around since Cheyenne is such a big Air Force town.
Also, one of my customers belongs to a local servicewoman's group and they might come over after brunch. I guess there are even some retired women Marines, nothing can help those peace-niks now.

Yea but it could get violent. Remember Cherl Trine another Colorado pacifist.

If we do that they might attack and I really mean that We man not want to take the childern, on our Parade.

Well I finally tracked down their web site EVENT: Demonstration at Mulberry and College

Also on this page is a group called Women for Peace and Justice. They just happen to meet at the same church the the million mommies met at. In fact it is the place where Ms. (I'm not really a pacifist) Trine smacked our guy in the face with a clip board.

Maybe the parade idea can wait at least until we fill up the other three corners.

Where do you get your pocket Consitutions?
.........................
Let me know if you find a printer and maybe we can negotiate an even better rate. Regards.

Hey, man! You can't just go and print off your own copies!! What about COPYRIGHT LAWS, for pete's sake? Don't you know that the U.S. Constitution is copyrighted material? And the ACLU owns the copyright, BTW! You have to obtain their permission first. And anyway, the ACLU re-writes it all the time, so you might not even be printing out the latest version anyway.

It seems that they are nothing more than a small band of folks under the umbrella of the Poudre Valley Green Party

I suspected there was some affiliation there! No doubt all of 'em are vegans as well. Now I'm really kicking myself for not picking up more than 1 free brochure from the fish market in Stavanger Norway ...... it's all written in Norsk but it shows the outline of a whale on one side and the inside is filled with recipes and full color photos of a variety of whale-meat based dishes. I'd love to pass out a few whalemeat recipes to those Greenie Weenies across the street to see if I can get their facial color to match their party's name. Heh heh! ("Whale Meat - Intelligent Food For Intelligent People")

I've missed you guys! Just returned tonight from 4 weeks in Norway visiting my 2 brothers' and my nephew's families. That's 5 Saturday counter-idiocy protests in a row now that I've missed. I'll bet my signs are getting really ragged, eh? I should get there early next time with my tape and pens to do some repairs before the event.

That's great you've gotten some new Freepers to come to the event. I look forward to meeting them all.

See you soon!
