Glowing specs beat jetlag

Australian scientists have developed a set of glowing glasses which cure jetlag.

They emit blue and green light which fools the brain's body clock into resetting itself.

A gland at the base of the brain is sensitive to light and fooling it can reduce tiredness at touchdown after a long haul flight.

The lights are fitted inside ordinary sunglasses and powered by a small pocket battery.

Its developers say they should be worn for three hours a day, two days before flying, and for three hours during the flight.

Researchers at Flinders University in Adelaide focussed their research on the suprachiasmatic nucleus gland.

Over a period of 24 hours and 20 minutes it sends signals which trigger the release of hormones which create the daily rhythms of life.

Exposure to light from the glasses shifts these patterns according to the Daily Mail.

The university's Dr Leon Lack said: "Bright light is the tool which retimes our body clocks."

Like I really know two days ahead of time when I'm going to fly! Life should be so predictable. I'm lucky if I get twelve hours notice.

Will it cause the nation to go crosseyed?

"All I need is my dog."
"All I need is my dog, and this chair."
"All I need is my dog, this chair, and this lamp..."

Whoa....what a great scene ! I use that scene on my wife, when I'm on the pity-pot. It drives her to hysteria and gets me out of my funk. True funny stuff ! Only a few of us true connoisseurs get it !
