'Safety bullet' invention aims to prevent accidental shootings
A Florida man claims to have designed a safety bullet which locks up a gun when it's accidentally fired.
Mike Worley says his simple invention takes gun safety to another level.
He came up with the idea after a local boy was shot in his elbow while showing off his dad's .357 Magnum.
The safety bullet can be hidden in the gun chamber and ejected quickly if the owner needs to fire a live bullet.
If the safety bullet is fired, it jams the chamber and locks the gun until the shell is removed with a special tool.
The News Herald reports Mr Worley has applied for a patent for his invention.
He says several companies are interested in his design, and one has started making a prototype.
Mr Worley, from Panama City, says he supports the use of guns and understands why people need a loaded gun as protection.
He said: "I think the safety bullet is a step in the right direction. I don't want fame and fortune. This is a simple device that takes safety to the next level."

" How does that work in the shower and I know you must sleep with it. "
You are shoing your anti-gun hesteria. Your phrase is exactly from the Hangun Control, Inc. handbook. All anti-gunners basically believe that gun owners sleep with their guns and shower with them.

"This is why kids are dyeing> "
If you are "for the children", then why hven't you invented the 5 gallon bucket lock? How about an automatic child restraint to be used when soccer moms forget to buckle in their children in those damned mini-vans, minivans that kill thousands more children than any gun ever has or ever will ?

There are things that the NRA has done that I really, really do not like. I still support it. We have got to all hang together or we will, assuredly, hang separately. ;o)

The phone number is a private line in Virginia. It is not a business phone number.

I've done more than enough research to know that training coupled with common sense is a sure fire technique for weapons safety .
For the record I'll not hit the sites you offered here because they have zero value for clear thinking rational people .
For the record being left or right on this subject makes all of the difference in the world , especially when another product is fostured to society at large wich promotes a severe false degree of security .
How in sam hell you can look yourself in the eye and shave each day is something truly to behold . No , I'm slamming you because you have motives that dumb down , create and advance the odds of societies worse elements to further there abilities to contaminate and destroy good wholesome families .
I'm slamming you because you know you are a shallow self serving individual , trying to posture yourself as 1 of us . As far as I am concerned you have been outed as an agent of disruption and are a scoundrel of the highest magnitude .
May your god have mercy on the cancer that permeates your core . I do not .

P.S. I think a few people here are very well connected to ALL ammo manufacturers. I cannot find one person who knows of this device being manufactured by a known ammo company.

You need to understand that some of these folks live, breath, and sleep weaponry.LOL. With all due respect, there are those conservative who've never touched a weapon in their lives. I'm sure there are plenty of folks that understand that one's person(and extensions therefrom..family/community/country) is one's own responsibility. This is one of the prime core conservative values afterall, isn't it?

Thank you for all of your work and your patience with me.
Let me know if the SAS ever gets another rep here for the North Texas area. I can be a pretty good worker bee when I have to. I just received a scrap of paper in the mail today from the Red Cross thanking me for work I did during 9/11 so I'm good for something.
I'm fond of saying that I used to be a life member of the NRA. Now I'm endowed. < G >

I stand by my statement that many FReeper bang listers are in essence very serious gun enthusiasts. I consider myself that as well although I'm not the black gun sort like many here.

Yes, my draw time has been worked on a LOT since we did that drill in LFI-1. It's my threat assessment time that I can't seem to improve very much. I have to take it all in and make sure that I *should* shoot ... however, if a guy's coming at me with a knife, I think I'll have that one pegged.
I practice at least once in every garment I own. Starch? Oh, honey, I'm an old Hippie ... wrinkled has been in since the 60s. Now that I'm in my 50s, it's DEFINITELY in! ;o)
Thanks for the sympathy, it's a drag by at least I'm still kicking. And you're right, it definitely hasn't made me quit. Women, people who limp, older folks, etc., are all typically higher on the "prey" list than big, strapping, body-building men, so the older and gammier (that's with two m's, not ONE, mind you) I get, the more I know that I need to be able to defend myself. I've taught women in wheelchairs to shoot, and worked with them on carrying methods.
Cooper doesn't teach Tueller? Gee, guess I should find that out for myself. Any excuse for more training! [big grin]
Now, you keep practicing that draw time!
To: PatrioticAmerican
Yeah. Heck, we just keep a big old machete in the shower. A little WD40 and it's fine ... no sense ruining a perfectly good firearm! No, seriously, we do ...

Oh, I know, I know, I know. I may have ill stated my post. Sorry bout that. I just wanted it said that our brothers extend far beyond only those who're acquated with firearms.

SBI, Have you figured out what that phrase meant yet? It was asked several hundred posts ago. I know, too much research on yahoo/google about "accidental shootings". You did check google news as well, didn't you?;) Spare a little time though, would ya?

This guy is giving out someone else's home phone number? Isn't there some kind of FR policy against that?

Oh, you know, I think that we do have a coord in North Texas (pretty big area ... I'm from College Station, home of the Fightin' Texas Aggies, myself) now. Our wonderful North Texas area person moved to Austin a while back, and is doing great there, and I think that someone in Arlington has stepped in now to represent us there. Let me find out and get back to you!

I've taught women in wheelchairs to shoot, and worked with them on carrying methods.I've taught Boy Scouts and I've taught children that were in Wheelchair or were blind. The Scouts are fun and the handicapped are kind of rough. I've had to go excuse myself to wipe away tears.
It was a guy I knew that had a bad mental problem that did the most for the blind kids. He was brilliant but the elevator didn't go to the top floor. He used to play with lasers all the time and he had the idea to attach lasers on the barrels of the bb guns. Then the instrutor could guide the rifle over so the blind could hit at a reasonable distance.
I asked for pictures so that I could show interested handicap groups but no pictures were ever made. There's video that I have but the operator didn't care for guns, I guess, and there's nothing on what we did.

I heard she moved to Austin whoever she was.
My son's in Arlington so I know a little about the town. They can't seem to keep out of the news. First a Hooter's lost a Liquor license so they were giving the booze away and now the town council wants fingerprints from all cashed checks.
