I am a small business owner who sells a variety of products online. I have some that are of particular interest to conservatives and republicans (political orientated novelty products). Anyone know of a good place to advertise that can reach a large audience of conservatives? I'm aware of newsmax but it seems they put all of their advertising at the bottom and jumbled together. I want people to actualy be able to see and click on my ads

A great place to advertize in print would be the classifieds pages in National Review magazine and Human Events. If you want to advertize online go to worldnetdaily. Some talk radio hosts will allow you to advertize on their websites. The more popular the host the more hits you will get.

You could find political message boards that sell advertising space on their boards. Delphi Forums comes to mind. You can arrange with them to run your ads in certain categories, like current events or politics, or however they classify it over there. They place ads sporadically through the threads.

I'm sure there are lots of message boards out there who sell advertising, and it probably isn't terribly expensive.

I advertised on Newsmax two years ago. A $100 banner ad for 5000 impressions. Didn't notice any uptick in my hits.

I've taken out classified ads in The American Spectator and National Review. NR brought some modest response, TAS not really.

I wish there was a place to advertise on a budget. Newsmax has much clutter, and it's expensive. Though their salesman assured me that those monthly ads on the sides get a good response. So he said.

A better plan might be to exchange free links with conservative websites. Cross-promote. Do you have a website?

Have you considered placing material in the biz.* hierarchy in Usenet? Its free (except for the overhead of getting Usenet access), and there's hundreds of biz. newsgroups, tailored to almost any interest.

$100 for 5000 impressions or 5000 hits? Newsmax.com can do 5000 impressions in no time flat! Drudge gets 4 million visitors a day. I'd imagine that Newsmax gets a least a couple hundred thousand hits. Each of those being an impression. What do they charge for the ads on the side?

I currently pay ebay about $45 for what is probably about 50,000 impressions of the text of my ad yielding about 1000 hits yielding about 50 purchases.

I run a web business that gets about 70,000 unique visitors a day. Never NEVER do impression (CPM) based advertising, like banner ads. The most effective way to go is come up with a bunch of related keywords (bumper stickers, poltics, conservative etc: as many as you can), and then buy pay per click advertising. You'll only pay when surfers click over to your site. Then it's your job to get conversions. (Sales).

The best venues are Overture and Google. Good Luck!

You may want to check into the homeschooling 'market'. There are lots of magazines, tabloids, websites and etc. which cater to homeschooling families. Just an idea ;-)

I tried google and I wasn't very impressed. I get the best rates with ebay featured auctions (what I listed before). The problem is I have liberal wackjobs that mess wiht my auctions and try to get me suspended from eBay. The listing fees are also ridiculous with eBay. Fully 40% of all my revenue goes back to ebay in listing fees. I'm looking for something better. The things I sell, I need to have a picture with them, so I'm thinking more in terms of online listing

What are the NEw Republic ads? I'd probably have to take out a full or half page listing to sell what it is that I sell (need to include pictures).

You're doing well if you get a 1.5% to 2% transaction rate. That may or may not work depending upon what you pay and what your average order and margins are. Overture has great reach and although it can be expensive, you should be able to find a niche.

Isn't overture losing more and more business due to other companies signing with google (and of Googles site itself getting more business)? I mean who uses altavista and hotbot and lycos anymore?
