WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Some members of Osama bin Laden's security detail have been captured and are among the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, U.S. officials told CNN Tuesday.
Sources believe that if the bodyguards were captured away from bin Laden, it is likely the most-wanted man in the world is dead. The sources said the guards have been in custody since February.

The former Bin Laden, terrorist extraordinaire, is now Bin Laden, plant and worm food, Ltd.
Depends on how much rock fell on him. Right at this moment somebody in Afghanistan may be "digging for buried treasure."

The fact that he has not been seen for months tells me that he is either dead or is in pretty bad shape.
Sources believe that if the bodyguards were captured away from bin Laden, it is likely the most-wanted man in the world is dead.He would be dead because his bodyguards would be near him if he was alive, which means we blew him up... but if we blew him up, wouldn't they have been near him and have been blown up too?
Where's your sargeant, soldier?
Blown up SIR!
I for one have believed that Binnie has been cavorting with the 72-year old virgin for some time now, at least since September. Call it the Che Guevara theory.
We never wanted to actually kill Che. We had plenty of opportunities. The Congo was a perfect opportunity. But we didn't want to martyr the SOB.
Same with Bin Laden. Why provide a martyr figure for the Arab ummaa? Let the masses wonder where he went, and why he is so strangely silent. Let them also wonder why the Americans won't say anything about him.
Usamaa has left the building. He had a blind date with a woman named Daisy Cutter.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
--unless his bodyguards had a sudden glimpse of mortality and boogied.
--leaving bin Laden to leave the building solo.
. . .after all, these are scum who treat women worse than beasts of burden. . . .
. . .and whose idea of warfighting is cowardly ambush of civilians. . . .
--so, I suggest they deserted their principal, leaving him to die in daisy-cutterville.
Put them in the Yuri I. Nosenko suite--with a Sears DieHard--and find out.
Looking at the FBI wanted web page on bin Laden (http://www.fbi.gov/mostwant/topten/fugitives/laden.htm), it does not appear to me to be a dead or alive type of reward. However, it does seem likely anyway that you are right -- someone would try to claim the reward, or, more likely, would brag that they were not claiming it, thus showing their loyalty to the cause. If bin Laden died without his followers quickly announcing it, that would be one of the most bizarre endings to the life of a historical figure on record. I figure that bin Laden is laying low out of humiliation over not having a big follow-up to 9/11 yet, and is planning to let his deeds speak for him next.
The story at the head of this thread is a little strange. Why are these officials just leaking this now when they captured the bodyguards in February? And why would bin Laden's son know his whereabouts, and be willing to tell his captors about it, any more than would the bodyguards? I don't suppose our side uses truth serum. Maybe, on non-uniformed combatants, we should.
I wondered about this 72 virgin thingy myself, you know, like what if he played around a little bit and ...Oh, never mind!
Works for me.
But considering what one video tape could do to reignite al Queda passions, I'm thinking (quietly) that binnee boy is a grease spot on the hills of Tora Bora.
