First twins Barbara and Jenna Bush apparently learned little from their scrape last year with Texas lawmen, who were called by the Bush-hating manager at an Austin Tex Mex restaurant who spotted the underage duo ordering Margaritas with fake ID.
They've been luckier this summer but not a whole lot more careful, according to a source at one Arlington, Va., pub not far from the White House.
The bar, Iota's, was carding very thoroughly one recent Thursday night, so the presidential twins' "fake IDs must be sweet," the source tells the magazine Washingtonian Online.
"When a bartender recognized the twins, he took their beers away," the e-zine reports. "But the twins still stuck around."
The Bush girls, who turn legal later this year, reportedly visited the bar with "a pack of pals" to see a folk band called Brown Couch, whose guitarist attends Yale with Barbara.

If this were Chelsea, the papers would be gushing over how glamourous she looked.

Note to W: Please ground them this time, so that they'll know not to pull this stunt again...

If this were anyone else but the Bush daughters, they would have been thrown out of the club and possibly arrested...
To: gubamyster
20 year olds not legal to take a drink. Stupid law.
I hope they throw one hell of a party when they turn 21. They deserve it.

Ground an adult? They're under 21, they live in his house - he can ground 'em. If they're that immature, they've got no business being out without supervision to begin with.
I mean damn! How hard is it to get your booze at home, and getting something non-alcoholic when you're out -- especially when you know that folks are gunning for you?

If this were anyone else but the Bush daughters, they would have been thrown out of the club and possibly arrested... Kinda doubt that. I bet a good portion in attendance were under age. Doesn't make it right and they should know better, but most cases of underage drinking, people look the other way.

He was legally drinking at their age. Like it or not, times have changed and NOW it is ILLEGAL. I am a strong supporter of Bush, but these incidents are embarrassing. Frankly these girls are showing a lot of immaturity and selfishness by continuing to break the law, especially when they know they are under intense scrutiny. I know they didnt run for President, their father did. So get over it & grow up. Im sure they enjoy the perks of being the Presidents daughters, now take responsibility.

Maybe that's true there - it sure isn't true here in California. They are pretty strict about enforcing the age laws in bars here...

Well, what a surprise. I told some people this morning that I thought Limbacher was using the drinking thing again (on the Hilary thread). He is now reporting campus gossip, which we all know is so accurate. Feh.

Let's go one better - they've got a freakin' Secret Service detail fer Pete's sake! How hard is it for one of them to say, "Uh, Joe, can you go to the liquor store and get us a bottle of Thunderbird?"

If you or I took a drink in public at 20, the world would yawn. But then again, our every movement wouldn't be recorded by the intrusive press, and our folks never lived in the WhiteHouse. When the twins were caught a big to do was made about it - but they keep getting caught again and again. You know some slimy Democrat strategist is going to come up with some negative ad about Bush with words like: "How can Bush claim to be for family values, when his own children don't even respect the law?"
