"According to the IRS documents, the Clinton fan's complaint was received by the IRS from the White House on Sept. 14, 1998, and dispatched to Commissioner Charles Rossotti's office. That same day, the file indicates, a telephone call in connection with this matter was made to a person whose name was blacked out. Just two weeks later, Judicial Watch received its first notice of an audit."

Bastard. As usual we get some smoking gun...and now we just wait for the denial. Traficant was just on MSNBC but said nothing of it. He I am sure before his sentencing tomorrow will have some comments on this. Larry does good here?

Klayman must be joyous with all this publicity.
Going from Right-Wing wack job to watchdog group.

I'll be waiting for the usual Judicail Watch bashers to drop by for their portion of humble pie. However, I'm not holding my breath.

Larry is a dopey nuisance. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Larry's lawsuits come to nothing. It's the irritation he created with them that got to the Clinton WH.

The background of other such audits might yield other smoking guns, if Congress or the Bush administration were interested enough to investigate. Don't hold your breath ... the Bush administration and congress have shown little, or no, enthusiasm in going after the Clinton administration. Other IRS targets, Linda Tripp, Paula Jones, Kathleen Wiley and nearly anyone else who was seen as a threat to the Clinton administration.

Nothing will come of it. If the Clintons dropped an A-Bomb on Republican HQ, the Republicans would apologize to them for not being at ground zero.

A filing in the court last Jan. 7 indicates the documents were released by lawyers from the Justice Department's Tax Division. The government's chief litigator against Judicial Watch has been a remarkable Washington bureaucrat named Stuart Gibson. While serving as a civil service tax lawyer, Gibson also is a liberal activist in suburban Fairfax County, Va., where he was elected to the school board with Democratic backing. He was the lead litigator in the public disclosure of tax shelters by individual taxpayers--including Bill Simon, the Republican nominee for governor of California.
fyi...

I hope they sue for harassment. I hope they get a fat settlement. They're not getting more of my money.

I'll be waiting for the usual Judicail Watch bashers to drop by for their portion of humble pie.I have not commented on the JW threads, but I used to be Klayman fan and have been disillusioned.
HOWEVER, these records, obtained via the FOI request filed by Klayman, are very interesting (and no surprise) and I'll acknowledge it was due to Klayman that the info is being revealed.
To: cactusSharp
I haven't always agreed with Klayman. But when Klinton was in office, we were pleased that at least one person was taking him to task. Whether tangible results came of the information he uncovered or not, that information was still revealing to those of us who cared. Sure Klayman is a thorn in the side of our guy from time to time, and at times way over the line I'll admit. I'll suffer that in the interest of having folks shoot straight.
As for this IRS information, we wouldn't have it without Judicial Watch. Now, do we want Judcial Watch to expire? And if we don't want it to expire, then we're going to have to accept that Larry will beat his own drum collecting funds to support JW.
To: Clara Lou
Well then, it seems to me, he is more than just a dopey nuisance.
