If you know a Veteran, someone in your family,
friend of the family, neighbor, who served their
country, take a brief moment of your day to thank them.
Thank them for the sacrifice they made
for the better good of their country.

We at Free Republic, and the USO Canteen FReeper Style,
are thankful for every service member
in our military, who has served our great nation.

So, to the men and women who answered the call,
in both times of war and peace, thank you.

Message from Snow Bunny to all those who visit the Canteen.

This is how I think of the USO Canteen Freeper Style.
It is like a cottage down a road,
a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.

Since it opened, it is magical how so many
Freepers who post here, feel it too.
It has been so dear how the Freepers
kept making it a cottage - a home-type of place
that had a huge living room
for them to visit in and a dance floor, a library, etc.

Many Veterans have written to me,
saying that the Canteen is like home
to them for the first time since they served.

This is your Canteen -
a respite from our busy
and sometimes troubling world.
Make yourself at home...............................................................................................................................................................................

Our troops need our support and encouragement. They are away from home, some for the first time, and usually lonely or discouraged. It is important for us to reach out and help them in the same way we would want someone to reach out to our loved ones if and when they are in the same position.

They answered their call and we are answering theirs offering them the USO Canteen FReeper Style each day and thanking them for serving.

This is IN Coming Mail from some of those serving now.

We at the USO Canteen FReeper Style, a running thread at Free Republic, are proud to support our Military. The mail comes in from contacting some of our Military Bases, Marine Corps Leagues , and friends and family of those serving now. Also from responses at the wonderful P.O.Box that 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub has made so easily available to each of us here at Free Republic.

They are writing to those that frequent the FReeper USO Canteen to thank you for your support.

Dear Snow Bunny,
What a place the Canteen is and I get to see it about three or four times a week.
I am in love with everyone of the Canteen Girlz and what lucky guys those
Canteen guys are to get to be around all of you everyday. I had a girlfriend
but we broke up during my bootcamp and I had a heck of a time handling
it from away from home. Thank you for going to Arizona, you filled my<>br> request and that sure meant an awful lot to me.Victoria and Spookbrat play such great songs and it is great to hear them .

Snow Bunny, you can show them this on your Monday Mail Call day
be sure to tell them I would give of them one of your Bunny hugs if I
could , a big one too.

All right Bunny !
You said just write what I want to and I think I still better be
careful don’t ya think LOL

To all the guys, those of you that have been in the Navy know
how it is being on a ship for long periods of time. Good , bad
and otherwise.They keep us pretty busy as you know and the
time we have for ourselves gets to be pretty special .
I am glad I am serving my country and hope to make it a
career . I want to thank all you Canteeners for your hard
work supporting us. You could be doing other things, yet
you come to the Canteen and entertain all of us and share
your humor with us.
Mr_Magoo and Tomkow6 could work up an act I think for
your next party.I can see it now, my side splitting from
laughter and the crazy antics of you and the Bad Boys that
you’re a part of.Bad Boys RULE! You have a winner there!
Tomkow6 , don’t wash that burka , just get it ripe and send it
into battle. The enemy might be drawn to the scent of it, imagine.
Keep up the great work you do and thanks from this sailor for
such a place to come to.

I LOVE Victoria,Souris,antiJen and Spookie is no brat. Hi Snow Bunny,
How did you like my introduction I got right to the point!
Ladies you have a big fan here and you and the rest of the
Canteen have made my life better.
I tend to get down in the dumps sometimes and you all
cheer me right up. Not just your humor but your
personalities that show through.
Aloha Ronnie, that was some Freeper Friday with you. I
thank you for serving our great Nation.And Larry Johnson
yours was really interesting to me , my Uncle almost went
to the same places you did.

Now see guys we Pirates know how to treat the ladies

Sam Themeless Thursday are one of my favorites
and Monday Mail Call. Mail call sure brings back a
lot of memories.
Snow Bunny you sure know how to put a thread together
to get me crying here. You loosen up all I have held in
for over 30 years. Jim Robinson is a genius to have a
USO Canteen at FR. Give that man a high five !

I also enjoy reading about each day in history. It is one of my

Snow Bunny ,Aomagrat and Coteblanche,
I want to thank Coteblanche and Aomagrat so
please use this for Monday Mail Call.

Aomagrat I have seen every one of your war ships
and thank you from the nephew of one that served on
a Canadian ship CAYUGA during the Korean War. I have relatives in Canada and this man had great
Sea stories he would tell me as a kid.
When I graduated highschool, I joined the Navy here in America. My heart really belongs to the Navy.
Thank you for serving Aomagrat in the Navy and I
hope to see you as one of the Freeper Friday vets one
day. Snow Bunny said you were moving and had said
after you got settled. I was glad to hear I have that to
look forward to on Freeper Friday one of my main Canteen
days.

Coteblanche, thank you for your support. It has a special
meaning to me coming from Canadian.Some of my family
live in Canada. We are sort of spread out all over and when
we manage to get together, it is one fun time and long talks.
I also checked out your poetry area there at Free Republic that
you have Coteblanche. Your heart is pure gold and I can see
why you are one of Snow Bunny’s friends. She sure has good
taste in friends and companions at the Canteen. What an
awesome group of people Snow Bunny has helping her with
the Canteen.And she has written to me before how she loves
all of her friends so much. I can see why , you are all special
people.And Gator Girl, God Bless you for being the wife
of someone serving now.

Snow Bunny a big kiss and hug for you
Thank you for the Canteen! Here I am
at a desk now after some work I had to
have done on this beat up leg of mine. My
hope is to get well as fast as I can so I can
get back where I belong.

The one thing that has saved my sanity is the
Canteen and the laughs I get when I come there.

There is someone that I just can’t help but be
WILD about, a Canteener named Souris. I never
Knew a mouse could effect me like she does.LOL
She has tamed the heart of this lion and is a big
reason I can handle my situation right now.

I would ask beautiful Victoria for a song dedicated
to Souris but my knowledge of songs is lacking.And
I would want to be able to present flowers to Souris
and Victoria for the music.

Thank you for helping me get through the boredom of
being at this desk for probably another two months.
You Canteen patriots are an amazing group of people.
Do you have any idea the lives you touch every day ?
More then you may know is my guess !

Dear Snow Bunny
You all really are a part of my life. Thank you for
the enormous support you all give us there at the
Canteen. I had to write you back Snow, when I saw
what you all were doing with one of your Canteeners
on vacation. I swear you all crack me up!!!

I laughed so hard everyday seeing that milk carton and
the Samwolf on that thing. Then with all you girls
surrounding it like that. The day counter changing each day
till his return.

Man, what a bunch of nuts ! ROTFLMAO

Then you all have those crazy little cars you drive around ,and
those pin up dolls that keep my blood pumping.
The Bad Boys and their pranks and jokes.

I would pay for this kind of entertainment !!!

And in the blink of an eye as a complete force you all switch
to getting me to wipe tears from my eyes with your compassion
for those serving now and those that have served before.

Heck your not just a part of my life , other then my dedication
to the Corps , YOU ARE MY LIFE !

Hi Snow Bunny! :-) How are you??? Yup my head has been in the stars for years LOL! The SETI project is still going strong. I am working on a new interface that will allow us to look at 30 million frequencies from our dish antennas during the two minute time any particular star is within the beam of the dish antennas. :-)
