Look guys. This is reported in the WP and acknowledged by the USAF. This was over Wash DC airspace. It showed up on radar. Jets were scrambled. This cannot just be glibly shrugged off.

Does anyone here believe in UFO's? (Hint: they may NOT be extraterrestrial "aliens")

Could be just an experimental plane being tested without the knowledge of Andrews.

(timidly raises hand) Yes, I do. I've seen too much evidence to shrug it all off as swamp gas and Venus sightings.

I had a friend who had a really weird encounter about three years ago. About a week later there was an article on CNN about hundreds of people seeing the same thing. When they recycled the news 30 minutes later, the story was gone. I found it on their website later that day and forwarded it to my friend, but by the time the sun went down the article was scrubbed from their archives. I was never able to find it again and have remained curious.

Does anyone here believe in UFO's?

This is as close as I've ever been to a first-person account (which is the only convincing evidence):

A kid (an employee) shows up for work one morning a few years ago at my brother's place of business. He tells the following story. His composure was unremarkable, calm, normal.

He's driving on the backroads of rural Maryland the previous night, near the Pennsylvania border. Girlfriend in the car, heading toward girlfriend's house. An extremely bright light appears on the road ahead, approaching them. They get frightened/concerned, turn around and head toward an alternate route which is 5-10 minutes from the girlfriend's house. He tells girlfriend to take cassette out of player, which also has a clock (the clock is part of the story). He looks at the clock.

As they approach a large field and intersection, the whole area lights up "like a football stadium" with a greenish light.

The next thing he knows they are stopping in Ma's driveway. He looks at the clock on the cassette player. It's 20 minutes later, and he doesn't remember how they got there. He also says that both he and his girlfriend had "aching necks" and small marks on the back of their necks.

I ask my brother - who's telling me this on the phone from his office - to go out and ask the kid to show the mark on his neck (it had happened the previous evening). My brother comes back a couple minutes later and describes a perfectly round red mark on the back of his neck, about the size of a quarter.

Now, coincidentally, there had been several other strange UFO reports in that part of Maryland over the preceding days. At least one involved green lights (in that case a person thought a nearby power transformer was on fire, but the power company said there were no problems in the area).

As this discussion with my brother was transpiring, one of the local talk shows was interviewing a UFO-ologist. My brother asks the kid to call the talk show, but he's not interested in saying anything more. In fact he never says another word about it, just shrugs it off whenever its mentioned.

Its not a matter of belief but rather a matter of fact , and the fact is that they are out there . Who is running the show is a whole different matter .

Myself and 3 of my fireteam saw the exact same thing on 2 consecutive nights and the aerocraft performed the exact same things in the sky .

I do not believe that they were US craft , but who knows . It was also interesting because it was nearly to the second on the hour on the same hill . Hill 722 on Oahu , 1980 . It was interesting .

I agree, although I'm somewhat shocked to see that this story has been picked up by major newspapers.

Call me a tinfoiler, but I have no doubt that UFOs (whatever they happen to be) are real.

Tinfoil off!

I believe in UFO's. I also do not believe they necessarily are "aliens." To deny their are UFO's calls thousands of eyewitnesses, including law enforcement officers and MILITARY OFFICERS idiots. This just does not make sense.

And if they were all wrong about seeing strange objects in teh sky, why the secrecy on the part of the govt.?

The only LOGICAL conclusion one can reach is that their are UFO's, which does not mean they are necessarily 'aliens' either. To deny UFO's is to call many intelligent people fools and to consider one's armchair judgmental attitude more valuable than the testimony of jet fighters etc.

Does anyone here believe in UFO's?

My sister and I were walking Wednesday night at 2:00 A.M. and saw passing beneath the moon what appeared to be two enormous objects with moonlight reflecting off their structure. They were traveling (two of them) in line, almost as if they were docking. Then they diverged, one going up, the other down.

Two enormous glittering objects whch would not have been seen had they not been so close to the aura of the moon and had its reflection on their superstructure.

I am not a believer in the "friendly" visitors.

What's out there is deceptive, and sees humans as useful to their own ends.

If seeing is believing, then yes.

On Sunday, October 8, 1967 at approximately 9:00PM, I was standing on the 50 yard line of football stadium at Sacramento City College. The event was an Up With People concert. I was the Publicity Director for the sponsoring organization, Sing Out Sacramento, and had been coordinating the local PR and advertising along with the other sponsor, The Sacramento Union.

I had been taking publicity photographs from back stage. In the stands of the stadium, facing east, were approximately 8,000 concert attendees and on stage approximately 150 singers, dancers and instrumentalists, facing west, with very bright stage lighting in their eyes.

I had just taken a great silhouette shot of the cast against those bright lights when I noticed something in the sky.

A slightly glowing, pale white disk shaped object approximately three times the size of a full moon was floating from South to North above and behind the crowd! I watched, with my jaw agape, as the object passed silently (at least I couldn't hear anything over the music) behind the stadium light towers. It stopped dead in the air slightly to the north of the edge of the crowd... waited there and then suddenly shot straight up, dwindling and disappearing in less than a couple of seconds. The whole incident lasted about 30 seconds.

Nobody in the crowd (who were facing away from the object) reported seeing it. Only a few of the performers on stage saw the object, the glare of the lights was in their eyes... but those that did saw exactly what I did.

The next year I went to college and my dorm roommate had been on stage... and he saw it. He said it was Topic A on the tour busses for the next week as people argued about its reality. Those that saw it were certain... those that didn't did not believe them.

Remember I was taking photos??? Not ONCE did I even realize I had a camera in my hands while the object made its pass. DAMN!

Yes, I believe that unidentifiable objects can be seen flying in the air. But, recognizing the context of your question, aye to that as well. I know that for all the reports there has been no legitimate and publicized concrete evidence, but that can easily happen when governments get involved. And then add the astounding list of sightings, many of which are not hoaxed, not reported by nuts, and not blimps, stars, swamp gas, or airplanes, and the sheer variety and enormity of all begins to overwhelm one. At least me.

"Does anyone here believe in UFO'S? (Hint: they may NOT be extraterrestrial "aliens")"

Yes, most definitely. Seen too many odd things in the skies over the past 40 years of watching. Unfortunately I've never seen anything up close.

Do I claim they're ET'S? Nope but I'm open-minded and nothing would surprise me. It would be nice to find out what all these things really are in my lifetime. I'm dying of curiosity. I can't make myself believe we're "it" in this universe. "If we are, it's an awful waste of space."

I do know that if the things I've seen in the skies are terrestrial, the gov't.'s have yet to unveil them to the public. I don't think humans could survive flying in them the way they maneuvered.
