Thanks for the ping. I don't trust the United Nations, and these resolutions like CEDAW are frightening, in my opinion.
But, I won't be joining the HSLDA. I realize it is a very reliable organization for other homeschoolers, but their literature makes it clear that they are not interested in secular homeschoolers, and other secular HSers have told me that HSLDA requires a certain curriculum and that they can refuse to defend you if you don't use that curriculum. Christian homeschoolers we have met recommended HSLDA to us, but we opted not to join after we received their literature. I'm sure it's great for others, though, and I do applaud most of their efforts.

Absolutely not true! I've been a member of HSLDA for 3 years and have never had our curriculum questioned...no one even *inquired* about it. There is no curriculum standard with HSLDA.
In addition, HSLDA has even taken *on* cases where the families *weren't* members of HSLDA.
