Your post makes me wonder if the guys back at Camera Central weren't cutting to him a bit too early in order to show him looking bad in order to discredit his reporting. I hate to have to adjust my tinfoil hat ipso post facto, but I just wonder. If Major had to tape his hair while reporting out of doors, most of them probably have to do the same. And I know he isn't the only reporter who didn't always have on a suit and tie ensemble for on-camera reports.

It was a total smear job. Look for my Connie Chung hit piece I am about to do here on FR shortly...I mean like in miunutes...hahaha.

It was kind of fun watching the evolution of Garrett on CNN! He tried so hard to be what CNN wanted him to be - he tried so hard to do negative Bush stories day after day. As time went by, his stories got more and more positive. One day, he actually laughed as he recalled something funny that the President had said that day. You could tell he liked the President...he was gone soon after that. Talk to you later...time for din-din!

Doesn't this just say it ALL?
Mr. Garrett is being replaced [at CNN] with Suzanne Malveaux, a former NBC News correspondent.

Slow Poke!!!

That's another one of those sort of names. Two of my cousins, they're brothers, have a middle name in common: "Marshall"! Also, there is a "Sargent Shriver"; Maria Shriver's dad. But I don't know if his is spelled like the military rank: "Sergeant"(sp?).

Thanks for the ping, goosie! An intelligent, analytical reporter...cool pick by Roger Ailes. Major Garrett will definitely be an asset to FoxNews and I'll look forward to his reporting.

I am really excited about his new Fox gig.
Air Force One just flew over my house. I waved to President Bush and if I'm not mistaken, I saw him wave back. Did you hear it go over? It was going your way.

Good move by Roger! No wonder that man has taken his network to the top of the heap. Even though I don't like Greta I understand that it was a good business move. I just tune her out.

Remember this?
This is great! He actually remembered my name!!!!
And remember this??
The Reliable Source (Washington Post, page C3):
In a disturbing development in Winston-Salem, N.C., yesterday, Fox News White House correspondents Jim Angle and Wendell Goler were mobbed by Republican-leaning groupies outside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the site of President Bush's speech. As the Fox team signed autographs, CNN correspondent Major Garrett was completely ignored, except by wiseacres who taunted him as a representative of the "Clinton News Newtork." Amid the frenzy of fans, Garrett sidled up to Angle and said: "Jim, how do you think they'd react if they knew that I used to work for the Washington Times, while you used to work for National Public Radio?" Angle replied: "Please don't tell them." Afterward Garett lamented: "There are some places in America where CNN just doesn't cut the ice."
We have a friend at Fox News!!!

Thanks for the info. I was wondering where David Shuster had gone.
Major Garrett will fit in great with FOX.

goosie ~ Oh no, I completely missed it. There's a lot going on in the house tonight (translation: my 4 year old is still awake!)
Howlin ~ Great pic! Who can forget that day, as awesome as it was? Tres memorable! I enjoyed meeting all of three of the coorespondents ... quite the prelude to hearing the President, huh?

So true. I'm jealous, goosie!

Indeed we have a friend at Fox. We knew him when. And he did remember your name Howlin. Didn't we have fun? Thanks for the memories.
I didn't actually get to see the President. I didn't have an extra $1000 lying around to give to Liddy. Channel 2 covered everything today so when I saw AF1 take off on tv, I ran out on the off chance it would go over. It did and its big.

I'm not real familiar with Garrett. Any input from Freepers on this one? I remeber Garrett from impeachment days on Hardball and other screaming head shows. He always impressed me as level headed and practical. I felt he might be a conservative...but he never came out and said so.
