I"m overweight, but I have to agree with you. This is a preposterous lawsuit. More choices? Last time I checked Wendy's offered potatoes(you can get them plain), grilled chicken(either nix the bun or have the sandwich minus the mayo and no frys), diet coke and iced tea are on the menu and of course you can always order a water. They also have salads. IMO, you can make yourself a nice little meal that's not to high in fat or calories if you look carefully.
McDonald's is a lost cause, but just don't go there for God's sake!
Burger King has offered for a long time grilled chicken, and even have some nasty looking veggie burger thing now and just brought back salads. I'm sorry, but these restaurants can not be responsible for your willpower once you pull up to said restaurants.
Although I have had some health problems(thyroid) contribute to my weight gain, I can also honestly say that not preparing adequately for when I am out contributes to it too(going to the fast food places) and I find it hard to believe that in any even smaller metro area there aren't lower fat type restaurants nearby.
This suit should be thrown out.
BTW, what I find even more disgusting is these folks are young really--in thier 50's--thier health problems can at least be improved by a healthier diet and lifestyle still.

.....nutrition when food was scared.

"Scared" = "Scarce". Actually, that's not altogether untrue since we hunted wild game to eat.

Lord Almighty!

What made this piece of sheeple order the super-sized french fries instead of the salad?
Did someone put a gun to his head and make him eat that much non-healthy "food"?
(Can you call anything McDonald's serves food?)
The judge should throw out this case, but I know that this will make it to a verdict.

Why am I seeing a version of Demolition Man (Stallone movie) beginning to manifest?
(/sarcasm)

Exactly right glory. It's more about being sensible and CHOOSING a resonably healthy diet rather than looking like an aerobics instructor. To let it go to the point of getting diabetes is just sad.

And oh yeah, shoot the lawyers!

Pringles is going to come out with a new wide-mouth can because of complaints that people can't fit their hands into the regular can. OK, that's when you know you're fat, when you can't fit your hand in the damn can! Hello!

Next will be hugh taxes on fast foods. After all the Gov't got by O'K with cigarettes. I thought they'd go after Liquor next , I was wrong.

A few years ago a man climbed onto a school roof to steal computers; he fell through the skylight and became a parapeligic. He won several million as the school hacn't posted a sign on the roof stating that the skylight was unsafe. Our justice system at work.

Yeah. It's not even just food. No one is forcing him to buy the junk. When I lived in the states I used to eat at Wendy's just for the salad bar.

We knew fast food was coming after tobacco. What's next? Soft drinks?

The ANTI-EVERYTHING will be in your back yard next.

We tried to warn everyone. But the non-smokers thought it was just because smokers are dirty people. Now look: the anti-everything is going after food, and fat people can now sue. It's not moral, IMHO.

That is correct, I knew this was going to happen. Next thing we will have to have a license to eat fattty foods, and drink soda. I'm tempted to go to a Pizza buffet and sue the resturant.

"Honest your honor, Ronald McDonald forced me to eat 5 Big Macs a week at gun point. Hey, I should sue the gun makers too! And the automobile manufacturers as well! The car I drove forced me to drive by the restaurant everyday....”

It's rediculous and getting WAY out of hand.

Yeah sure this lawsuit is ok ... just like the one where the lady sued temple university hospital because an MRI scan of her head robbed her of her psychic powers. She won of course.

You are kidding, everybody ought to get anybody to sign a disclaimer for everything and anything, anywhere.

Are they exercising? Taking supplements? Have they stopped eating the fatty foods?

Don't be silly, how would he get his millions if he did all that healthy stuff. :-}

particularly the poor and children.

The poor can't afford $3.00 for a hamburger. ($6.00 with fries and drink). 50 cents for an apple is more like it. The cheapest foods are the heathiest. A head of luttuce for lunch is more filling than a hamburger, better for you and cheaper.

Well dude you got to be smart about it, yaknow? Me, I'm a runner. I am lookin to lose a few pounds but I wouldn't do so hot if I put my happy a$$ on a carb-less diet. Better to carb smart, mix up the meats and veggies, and keep on truckin'. I am cutting down on alot of high sodium content sh!t but that's just cause I got to start watching my blood pressure unless I wanna kick it before I turn 40...

You just gotta play it smart though, and figure out what yer exercise/diet goals and sh!t are...

I'm overweight too and it's my own fault. I've cut out chocolate and most junk foods and yelled at Hubby for bringing home my favorite, brownies. A whole dozen. I'm NOT eating them. Well. I had half of one. They've sat, untouched for days. I can throw them out soon!
I agree that it's possible to eat out and do it sensibly. Blaming the fast food joints is a copout and get rich scheme.

HEY MAX! I'm gonna use this as a precedent to sue the beer companies.

DUDE! That will be the fourth sign of the f-ing Apocalypse! Lookit--

1. sue the f-ing gun manufacturers because you went and got yer happy a$$ f-ing shot
2. sue the f-ing tobacco companies because you smoked like a f-ing train and went and got lung cancer
3. sue f-ing Mickey D's because you ate like a f-ing pig and you went and got f-ing obese and can't get in or out of yer f-ing car
4. And the fourth sign will be, sue f-ing Anheuser Busch because you drank too f-ing much and went and got yer happy a$$ f-ing soused and accidentally slammed yer f-ing pecker in the f-ing closet door

Dunno what the other three will be. Or are there nine. I ferget. What the hell am I doing sitting at the f-ing lab computer at this time of night anyway. Who knows.
