Under the Taliban, Afghanistan put at least ten homosexuals to death; on New Year’s Day, 2002, our good friends in Saudi Arabia beheaded three men for sodomy. According to one report, Iran has executed several thousand men for homosexuality since 1979.

I have seen very few people on FreeRepublic, over several years, caring at all about this. I have seen many who -- let's put this as minimally and as calmly as possible -- aren't very bothered by it.

One has to wonder at the virulence of some FR posters' opposition to fundamentalist Islam. It seems to be doing an efficient job of eliminating some of the very people, with different sexual orientations, that these posters utterly detest. Many devout Muslims in Western Europe seem to be prepared, and eager, to carry on this tradition.

Could it be that the brutal deaths of 3,000-odd, mostly Christian, Americans last September 11 would finally induce making changes in the Mideast, of attitudes or governments, that would end up allowing a few thousand homosexuals to stay alive after all? And that some people, in these discussion precincts, might actually support such an incidental outcome? ... I doubt it.

Fair enough, Greybird. I detest homosexuality (though I don't blame people for suffering from it). It's cruel and abhorrent and wrong to kill people for such.

The persecution of homosexuals is sufficient reason to oppose the sharia, but it is certainly not the only reason. When "Liberals" finally succeed in converting North America into an Islamic theocracy, so many walls are going to be pushed over in San Francisco it's going to look like the '06 earthquake all over again.

Those who do not care about the persecution and murder of homosexuals, Bird, do not care about the persecution of Jews, Gypsies, or anyone else.

Also worth mentioning is the hypocracy concerning homosexuality and homosexual behavior widespread in Islamic theocracies.

The Muslim culture is full of homosexuality.  It is a satanic death cult centered mostly on CONTROL!

Kandahar comes out of the closet -- ...the gay capital of South Asia throw off strictures of the Taleban...

Defining the problem in terms of "gayness" neutralizes totally the otherwise eloquent and powerful arguments presented in the essay.
This is bigger than goes far beyond a minor (but no longer harmless) perversion.

Sharia also support marriage and punishment for criminals. Whooptido!

You know Soviet style communism opposed homosexuality too. We oppose it for the damage it causes, not what we have in common. All societies have laws governing sexual morality.

Besides, homosexuality is quite common in fundamentalist countries. Muslims seem to be of tow minds. Raping young boys is fine to them. If you read the Hadith, Mohammed had homosexuals in his army and regularly gave the young boys or adolecents of conquered towns to them.

And that some people, in these discussion precincts, might actually support such an incidental outcome? ... I doubt it.
No one at FR support death for homosexuals.
Grow up.

That is a knot in a noodle. A seeming contradiction in action, that fundi-rightwingers do not seem to rah-rah the death of homosexuals. The simple answer is that the fundi-rightists do not want to wipe out homos, that is just a banner that the homos wave. The action speaks louder than the retoric doesn't it.

The homosexual cause is a non-cause, how often do you see a Christian Pride march trying to offend homosexual mores? Ever seen a gay pride march?! Talk about trying to offend your neighbor...

Only place I really hear anything against homosexuality is in church, and their they say "hate the sin, love the sinner". They teach that the homosexual is not to be hated, but they are just trapped in sin and need to be helped out of it. Of course all the homosexual radicals say otherwise, but how many of them actualy ever stepped foot into a church?
