At 78, Mugabe is a left-winger who counts Cuba's Fidel Castro and Libya's Muammar Gaddafi among his foreign allies. Bump!
To: Cincinatus' Wife
I have asked my fellow FReepers before to give me their opinions regarding the silence the US media is taking toward the disgraceful events happening in Zimbabwe, & it seems like none of you want to talk about it, either. Therefore, I'm gonna ask it again: why is it that the only place I can learn about the horrific events in Zimbabwe are on FreeRepublic or WorldNetDaily? Why is the American press not telling the us about this government-induced tragedy??? Why isn't a "fair & balanced" news organization such as Fox News keeping this under the rug, considering the fact that they aren't supposed to have the liberal bias that other networks do? I'm very disappointed that even Fox won't say anything!

I'm very surprised that Farakhan sided with Mugabe on the issue of seizing the lands the whites seized from the native blacks. Mugabe is helping establish the "norms" against which any claim for reparations by US blacks must be based. IOW, for an argument FOR reparations to succede, it must be established that US blacks are worse off by virtue of their ancestors having been "stolen" than they would be had they been born and raised in mother Africa. Mugabe has done a whole lot to make sure that American blacks look like slavery was the best thing that could have happened to their ancestors.

I'm not so sure white farmers "seized" land from native blacks in South Africa and Rhodesia. The southern most part of Africa was largely uninhabited when the first Europeans arrived, or so I'm told. The majority of blacks now living in South Africa trace their ancestry to regions further north.

Mugabe put new rules in against reporting the truth.
The BBC was banned before the election. An American-born, British newspaper reporter, and long-time Zim resident
was charged, found not guilty, and promptly urged (ordered?) to leave.
Seems Mugabe's supporters were said to be after hime.
To: Calvin Locke
The reason Zimbabwe is not covered in the "mainstream" media is that to do so, and do so fairly, one would have to describe Mugabe as an African Stalin. Now that is politically incorrect and an American liberal's worst nightmare on a numer of accounts.

Mugabe should be torn by dogs and his bleeding carcass fed to hogs...if his head remains intact, stick it on a pike!
But he'll probably get the Nobel Peace Prize.
To: Calvin Locke
Thanx for responding Calvin, but that didn't gimme any answers. I'm curious as to why I can't hear these stories told on TV--Fox News, in particular. Why don't they wanna tell us about this?

"Ha it's the village idiot and the 2 runners up..."
No kidding! They've all taken a page out of the DNC manual, CREATE THE PROBLEM AND OFFER THE SINISTER SOLUTION.
To: libertyman
This is the biggest disgrace of American liberalism. Years ago I'm sure we all predicted this outcome. I won and my liberal cohorts are silent. Let's round up the Ed Asners and the like and put it to them. Where's Clinton and Carter
how about Jesse.

"...Zimbabwean Agriculture Minister Joseph Made said that any white farmer who did not put a crop of wheat into the ground would have his farm listed for seizure." The farms are already listed for seizure! Thugs and crooks run the United Nations...someone get us the h*** out of that rogue organization!

Mugabe vowed on Tuesday to defend his government against Western "bullies" ...What a joke. Mugabe is nothing less than a terrorist.
I think the lamestream media is afraid to report this story for fear of being branded racist. The only place you hear about this stuff is on talk radio.

Okay:
1.) They won't report on it because he is black, a marxist , an anti-west racist, a crook, a murderer, and most likely now, criminally insane or at least delusional.
Everything the RDDBs in the media adores.
2.) Mugabe fits the typical description of a despotic African dicator to a "t", so the RDDBs will do everything to protect the notion that white, western civilization
is the real evil in the world.
3.) The fact that Mugabe took a net food exporter and turned it in to a basket case is not their problem.
So the deaths of tens of thousands of people is not their responsibility.
4.) Their own responsiblity and problem is how they are going to figure out a way to blame it on the US taxpayer,
or at least the British taxpayer.
5.) Likewise, the speculation is that South African is going to have a minimum of 400K starving refugees
invading it, is also not their responsibility.
6.) Reporting that their "fair-haired" boy is not only worse than a total failure, but a real psychopathic
dictator, would damage their credibility and attract cries of racism from Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakan, Clinton, et al.
7.) Bottom line is that reporting the truth about Mugabe and his destruction of Zimbabwe is bad for the people who now "practice" the trade of Journalism. Worse for the people of Zimbabwe, but hey, can't have Marxism without murder or pogroms.
I have no idea why Fox is taking a pass (if they are). I get a lot of my news from shortwave, and signal
propagation is generally degraded during the summer months.
Radio Canada isn't coming in too well, but their coverage of Zim has dropped off since the election anyway.
Likewise, VOA/Africa's been pretty unlistenable (as well as my own schedule).

How will it possible help a starving nation to have its farmers thrown off of their own farms? Huh? I would like to know how Jackass Mugabe is planning to feed his own people. Oh, that's right! He'll let them starve as per the usual dictatorial method...

Oh, that's right! He'll let them starve as per the usual dictatorial method...And he's starting with those who are in the opposition party or who voted with the opposition. Next it will be his paid thugs that terrorized the electorate. That should trim the population down to a managable size. The man is a murderer.
