FRiends of the USO Canteen FReeper Style and Snow Bunny

If you know a Veteran, someone in your family, friend of the family, neighbor, who served their country, take a brief moment of your day to thank them. Thank them for the sacrifice they made for the better good of their country.
We at Free Republic, and the USO Canteen FReeper Style, are thankful for every service member in our military, who has served our great nation.
So, to the men and women who answered the call, in both times of war and peace, thank you.
.
Message from Snow Bunny to all those who visit the Canteen.
This is how I think of the USO Canteen Freeper Style. It is like a cottage down a road, a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.
Since it opened, it is magical how so many Freepers who post here, feel it too. It has been so dear how the Freepers kept making it a cottage - a home-type of place that had a huge living room for them to visit in and a dance floor, a library, etc.
Many Veterans have written to me, saying that the Canteen is like home to them for the first time since they served.
This is your Canteen - a respite from our busy and sometimes troubling world. Make yourself at home.

Maybe it was the Lord! Just think, if you had to have bad news of the song not being able to play, wouldn't you be comforted it was the Lord who broke the news? :)
P.S. He has done so much for me in the comforting department!
To: Snow Bunny
Thanks for what you said and how you said it at 273. You just keep on keepin' on. Bottom Line: The Canteen is the last place for anyone to be grumpy.

OH! hahahahahaha
I guess you have to register with MP3.com in order to hear their music. I tried to download the song, then upload it to my server, but MP3.com would not let me download it. I've downloaded other songs from there, but that one would not. Hmmmmm
My favorite line goes: "When God-fearin' women get the blues, there ain't no slap dab a tellin' what they're gonna do. Run around yelling I've got a Mustang it'll do 80, you don't have to be my baby. I've stirred my last batch of gravy..."

It's the thought that counts Jen. That line sounds like me when I told hubby that as far as cooking went I had "been there, done that" and the job was now his. I do everything else.

I agree with you. Children are so wonderful and to see how they did things from their hearts to the troops was so very special.
Great to see you my dear friend.

Spookie had a great idea. To plan it about a year in advance, like say have it next summer. That way people can save up for air fare etc. and plan on it.
Sam is in charge.... he does not know that part yet. LOL
To: coteblanche; fish hawk
That is beautiful. I like the way you (fish hawk) write. Cote, thanks for sharing.

OH wow Sassy, I am even extra glad now you are with us. That must have been so scary. Thank you Lord for letting our Sassy be here.
What an awful thing to happen to you.
To: WVNan
Now THAT is certainly a keeper.

OK...taking a little break. My mom is about to drive me straight up the wall today. She keeps forgetting she has already eaten and walks around saying, "I'm a little bit hungry!" So I fix her something and she goes away and hides it somewhere. Then she is right back telling me, "I'm a little bit hungry!" LOL. So we buy lots of bananas to give her and then find them all over the place! under the bed, in the drawers, in her pockets! I try to maintain a good sense of humor about it, and generally I do find it all very amusing, but I guess I'm just a little tired today. :))) The minute the nurse left this afternoon (right after feeding her lunch) she started in! LOL.
