Coleman, Wellstone
Even, GOP Poll Shows
A new GOP poll in the Gopher State's closely watched Senate race showed Republican Norm Coleman ahead of Sen. Paul Wellstone (D) by 4 points.
The survey, done by Voter/Consumer Research from July 14 to 15, showed Coleman at 46 percent and Wellstone at 42 percent. The margin of error was 4 percent.
Independent polling has indicated the race is in a statistical dead heat and new campaign financial disclosure reports show Coleman and Wellstone were second highest in overall spending among Senate contests last quarter. Wellstone spent $2 million while Coleman spent more than $1.5 million from April 1 through June 30.

Thune Poll Shows
Lead Over Johnson
Rep. John Thune (R) held a slim advantage over Sen.Tim Johnson (D) in a poll conducted for his campaign last week.
Thune took 45 percent to Johnson's 43 percent in the survey conducted by the Anderson Group, which tested 400 registered voters on July 17.
This is the third poll released in the past two weeks that shows the race within the margin of error.
A Public OpinionStrategies (R) poll conducted in mid-June showed Thune with a 44 percent to 43 percent lead; a poll conducted for the Johnson campaign late last month showed its candidate on top 49 percent to 47 percent.
Seeking to put Thune on the defensive on corporate accountability, Johnson's campaign released an ad titled "Greed" that details Johnson's work in the Senate to pass legislation that significantly curtails the rights of corporations.
Thune ended June with a financial lead over Johnson. He had $200,000 more in his war chest than Johnson; the Johnson campaign is quick to note, however, that the Senator has already laid down more than$500,000 for his television advertising in October.

Well , Coleman is not that bad........I don't think he's a RINO....He's pro-life, anti tax etc.....and he will vote for conservative Judges....
RE: SD...Most of the South Dakota voters might send puff's girl friend Kimmy back to the senate.

Daschle Watch List Ping.
FYI: Senate Race South Dakota Republican Thune vs. Dem. Johnson.

Ah heck, if it's close, then the DEMs will do what they did in the Ashcroft election. A liberal stooge judge will keep the polls open so the inner city DEM constituancy can swagger to the polls and cheat for the DEMs.
It's so predictible that it would be funny if so much were not at stake.

Lieberman finds himself as a recipient of contributions from Citicorp. He may have his own genuine scandal developing. He's not up for re-election until '04 is he?

2006.
The thing is, what gets me is the not knowing. This Administration is VERY leak-proof, and as a result, I have no idea what might happen.
Quite frankly, we need to highlight some Democratic ethics failures (Moran and Torricelli are biggies) and neutralize this issue fast. Otherwise...

Go Thune; Go Coleman -- Hello GOP majority leader! (hopefully someone other than Trent Not-a-Lott.)

Thanks for the ping.....Go Thune Go BUMP

You're welcome... and let's keep this BTTT. If Thune pulls it off, maybe TD will lose his leadership role; he hasn't been doing any leading in the Senate; just misleading. FV

Who's the guy with the wild hair? Trafficant? His April conviction is falling apart possibly. Sitting here in Florida, we are so full of Janet facts we could burst.
If you have anything regarding Moran and Torricelli, please tell us where to look or copy it here for us. Then what do we do with that information? Honest question.
Secondly, are they in with Daschle or just unethical in their own right? Regards, FV

There were two polls that were not reported in the media, but it showed Cornyn up big time. One poll showed Cornyn up 56-40 over Kirk, and other was similar. I am HTML challenged so I cannot do links but here it is.

bttt. It's important for everyone at Free Republic to talk to real people in addition to each other here on threads. Word of mouth is going to be a powerful tool against the mainscream media through this November and for the 2004 elections cycle.
I think we're already seeing the results of grass roots efforts. In addition, conservatism is gaining ground due to the dems getting nastier and being completely void of ideas - unless they have billion dollar price tags!

I know that we are "real" people but we are in cyberspace, not in the flesh. Please don't flame me - you know what I meant folks. lol

Thanks for the ping. Some hopeful good news here, but need to see better.

The way I see it, it's up to SD voters. Are they fed up yet or will they resist change? Two $1 million dollar questions.
My college attending cousin's son was trying to convince his grandpa to vote for Thune.
Maybe Thune needs to solidify the younger voters. After all, Daschle is a demosaurus to college age and younger voters and of course to me but dagnabit, I can't vote in SD! Floriduh Voter
To: Wild Irish Rogue
We have to support the RepublicansI agree with you. The House is voting today to ban partial birth abortion and is predicted to breeze through the House. They are saying it has the numbers to pass through Senate too, but the word out is that Daschle is not going to permit it to come up for a vote on the Senate floor.

2 bits of news that have gotten little attention.
First, a new poll has it Torricelli 43, Forrester 43 (follow the link from politicsnj.com under senate 2002). I would still bet against Forrester. Not sure how credible the poll is either. Second, The Washington post ONPOLITICS has a link to a CQ story on NV-3. Porter is ahead by 16 POINTS in a Mason-Dixon poll! CQ now has the race as leans Republican.
