Citigroup is in neck deep. Not only did they lend unsecured loans to both WCOM & Enron, it was their bonds broker and street advisor at Salomon Barney Frank (a Citigroup company) who artificially inflated the value of WCOM until the fraud was revealed.
That's right, they lent them millions in unsecured loans while acting as street advisor on the relative atrength of same said company. Any conflict of interest there? No, nothing more to see here. Move along.

Citicorp is number 13 on the list of top contributors to the Republican Party. Citicorp does not appear on the Dems top contributors list. A company which stands to gain a lot from Worldcom's demise- AT&T, is number 18 on their list.

Now... look at all the telecom firms that have contributed to Tom Daschle... does anyone else see a conflict of interest here?
To: kcvl
Interesting. 3 of the top 5 contributors to Dasshole have SEC investigations going on. Qwest Communications, Citigroup and AOL Time Warner.
Oh yeah, it's Bush that allowed all these shenanigans, I forgot.
To: Blood of Tyrants
"Maybe, but he is obviously in the "Too rich to go to jail" catagory." Michael Milken tried out that line, and it didn't work too well for him thanks to Guilianni...
To: kcvl
If Mr. Rubin can be shown to have had the same - or a more damaging relationship - to the Enron/Citigroup deal that Bush had with Harken, this market is finished.
To: rintense
It's McCain's telecom contributions that should be examined. He has sat on the Telecom committee for years. Intersting guy, he authors and pushes CFR, while taking more money from top contributors than most others. McTake has always been on the take.
To: rintense; kcvl
The rumor mill in Alabama is that the #4 contributor to Dashcle, HealthSouth, is about to massively restate earnings due to accounting shenanigans.
The Dems are piling up quite a list of dubious companies for which they owe favors...

I was astonished at all the 'soft money' McCain has received. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to most anyone, but McCain's push for CFR just doesn't strike me as genuine or honest.
To: The Vast Right Wing
How could he be in charge of something sleazy Oh yeah? The motto during the clinton years was: Push ethics to just a little South of illegality, and follow the example of the Commander in Cheat. If you get caught, ask the law inforcing Intity what IS is. Is is just a mistake, so let's move on.
To: kcvl
Seems to me that Dems dominate that list.
To: My Favorite Headache
Well, good! Stock ought to get cheaper than dirt now! Personally, I never had much use for "Shitty Bank." Not even as an investment!
