Is Citigroup enough to push the Dow to 3000?
Dow -144
NASDAQ -28
S&P -19
Time to take off the rally tag.

Thanks for helping me to understand all this. I really appreciate it. It is extremely complex. Thanks again.
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain
Good riddance. Citibank once refused a credit line increase for me when I was in desperate straits (out of state, with a major auto repair bill on my hands) less than a week after I graduated from college. I have refused to do business with them ever since.

"
Or, in the case of Jesse Jackson's campaign stops in urban areas, "HIL'REH AND GAW FOR THE PAW!" "
You are, of course, correct.
I would be happy were it only Jesse "Gimmedamony" Jackson.

So when would you suggest investing?
I really like these kinds of threads. Trying to understand this market is hard and extremely complex. I have so many friends who wonder aloud how to decipher all the information that is coming out.
One day you have an analyst saying Monday would be a HUGE increase in the DJ,.. then on Sunday, that same Analyst is saying that the newspapers in Asia and Europe are stating it will be gloomy.. so look for it to take a dive.
Thanks for the input. I appreciate all perspectives regarding this.

It's sad when a native son is replaced at the hand car-wash by an uneducated 3rd World illegal migrant.
Send 'en home! Let Laz get back to work!

I agree....I don't know that I would buy any stocks right now, but I certainly am not going to
sell them either...fortunately for us, we have a ways to go before we have to think about what the market it doing...unlike my parents, who are retired. However, my father is and always has been a smart investor and says, "When you panic, the effect is like a pebble hitting the pond...it makes ripples all the way across. This is what's happening right now."
I don't know how today is going to end, but I sat and watched with fascination on Friday as the market plummetted almost 200+ points in less than an hour. We have less than 1 hour left.

I should qualify my statement. That does not include new information about Citigroup. If that takes hold, that changes the fundamental picture and we are likely nowhere near a low. I am basing my view on what things are right now.

Sage advice. I'm glad my dad's out of the market (he pulled out about the middle of last year, IIRC).

LOL! Well, according to Angelique, I am quite repulsive because I am in my thirties, and I need to beg people for rent money.
Which, of course, is my job. Say, you have a few hundred I can hold? I need to pay rent!*
*BTW: This job, begging for rent, netted me 98,000 last year.

It'll take full effect tomorrow (or maybe not, since it is a Klintoon Gang company).
Dow -160
NASDAQ -27
S&P -21

If you have margin accounts it can.
To: DJ88
I am not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread, but the fact that the Dollar dropped 20% in value vs the Euro ought to help US companies sell their goods in Europe.
This will have an impact on their sales very soon.

And on the Gold Coast, that's barely enough for a 8th-story without the lake view. Why do you think I don't live there???
I'm thinking of franchising my Rent-Begging to many locations across the US. You need to be in your thirties, which is, of course, the most repulsive age.
To: fortress; steveegg; newsperson999
Good point.
How do you keep the headline changing, newsperson? Is it you or is it automated?
