Gore Accuses Bush Admin. of Lying

MORRISON, Tenn. July 20 — Former presidential candidate Al Gore accused the Bush administration Saturday of lying to Americans about the nation's economy.

At a campaign event for a congressional candidate, Gore told Democrats that electing Lincoln Davis could be the difference in continuing the Bush administration's economic policies.

The Bush administration has "lied about the future liabilities they have put on our shoulders as taxpayers," Gore said.

The former vice president prompted a cheer when he said: "I don't care what anybody says. I think Bill Clinton and I did a damn good job."

The recent spate of corporate corruption cases reflects the administration's policies and its appointees, who are supposed to police big business, Gore said.

He compared the administration's handling of the economy to business decisions that led to the collapse of Enron, saying Bush is creating a huge deficit.

"It's going to lead to bigger deficits than when the first Bush was there," Gore said.

He said the administration should "completely scrap its economic plan and its team on Monday ... start over from scratch and start rebuilding this economy."

Gore, who says he is undecided about another presidential race in 2004, endorsed Davis in the Aug. 1 Democratic primary for the 4th Congressional District.

Former aerospace company owner Fran Marcum is also seeking the Democratic nomination. Former Safety Commissioner Mike Greene and Tullahoma alderman Janice Bowling are seeking the Republican nomination.

Incumbent Rep. Van Hilleary, a Republican, is instead running for governor.

The rural district stretches from Alabama to Kentucky and includes counties that elected Gore to the U.S. House in 1976.

Record trade deficits, exporting of good jobs thanks to free trade. no effective war on terrorism (i.e., embassy bombings, U.S.S. Cole), allowing corporate CEOs to suck out profits of corporations for their own benefits, etc..

Tuco, my man, I do believe you are gaining brains.

Neither. I just find it incredibly refreshing when Tuco-bad can see ANYTHING wrong with liberal Democrats, even if it is for the wrong reason.

If a candidate doesn't care what anybody says, he's not really for democracy, is he? Oops. Your totalitarianism's showing, Mr. Gore.

The people cheering for this lunatic make me angrier than he does, though. *Shakes her head*

It is shocking how all this corporate corruption suddenly started happening as soon as Bush got elected. Under the Clinton regime, things were entirely kosher given the high moral example Clinton set. But as soon as Bush got elected, because the corporate titans knew what Bush did on Harken, they suddenly started to give out excessive options and top level executive income and cooking the books, auditors stopped auditing in a professional manner, and started not expensing options, and well, things just went to hell and a handbasket within about 16 months. None of this would have happened if Gore had been elected. The Dow would be back up to 12,000 and the new paradigm economy would still be going strong.

You know, you really shouldn't let MurryMom put words in your mouth. :-)

< sigh > I guess ol al continues to believe that character doesn't matter. Pretty sick puppy.

Besides, if ol Al was so dag gone proud of his filthy money grubbing from nuns in a Buddhist temple, so proud of the WH coffee/mafia/chinese money confabs, so proud of breaking the law and then saying 'well...golly, there was no controlling legal authority'....why in the HECK didn't he want ol billy boy out campaigning for him? Huh?

Note to Al: You are really sick. Take a few totes with Tipper in your new home (need to re-establish ties in Tenn, huh, bet you HATE it there as much as bill and hilly hated Arkansas! hehe) and put on some ol Rotary Connection albums. Or perhaps 'Dark Side of the Moon' reefer music! Go to it Al....you still don't know who you are.

"....He said the administration should "completely scrap its economic plan and its team on Monday ... start over from scratch and start rebuilding this economy......."

For anyone trying to understand the soul of a collectivist, this statement by Algore is a defining moment.

He really thinks that Government SHOULD be able to "start from scratch and start rebuilding this economy"....

As if "they" could.....

Not in a free market and a free economy, Al...maybe in your Leninist model or the Mussolini version; but not here.

Only over my dead body.

I think the following excerpt is the REALLY important part of his quotation:

"I don't care what anybody says."
