Limbaugh Urges Traficant: Blow the Lid Off Dem Scandals
NewsMax.com ^ | 7/19/02 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

America's number one talk radio host Rush Limbaugh urged Rep. James Traficant, D-Ohio, on Friday to deliver a "farewell expose" on his fellow Democrats before they vote to expel him from the House on corruption charges next week.

"Congressman, I know you're out there," Limbaugh told his audience. "I would love to hear you deliver a farewell expose, if you will, on the floor of the House, blowing the whistle on all the Democrats who stood behind Clinton and Condit but aren't standing behind you."

The conservative talker said Traficant's bribery conviction paled next to the crimes of the Clinton administration.

"We have a president who was convicted of perjury, lying before a federal judge," he complained. "We had a guy who was perhaps giving nuclear secrets to the Chinese, breaking all kinds of campaign finance laws."

Back then, Limbaugh reminded, senators said they acquitted Clinton because removing him from office would have been "overturning the will of the people." Democrat leaders Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt made much the same argument for their decision not to force Rep. Gary Condit, D-Calif., to resign last year over the Chandra Levy cover-up.

Under House rules, Traficant will have 30 minutes to address his colleagues before any expulsion vote.

"He's promised one hell of a show on the floor of the House," said Limbaugh. "And what he's done so far probably is nothing compared to what he's going to do."

Two years ago, Traficant accused former Attorney General Janet Reno of treason, telling Fox News Channel that the Clintons chose her for the job because she has a sordid past that made her easy to blackmail.

It must be that if beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then being well informed is in the ear of the listener, when it comes to hearing and seeing what you want. I get the point, that you simply do not like Rush. You are not alone, I'm sure.

If he keeps up his weird ranting behavior he won't be believed if and when he decides to spill the beans on his former party members.

Limbaugh's igorance on most subjects is enough to get me to want to scream out expletives from my car window.

Actually, I think Limbaugh is very intelligent, but that he panders to the Republican Party line, and is not always a consistent -or- conservative.

For example, he has been on a very good point of late on black demmy constituency..."The dems have promised blacks many things for decades, and have not delivered. They do not deserve the black vote for this reason."

Well, that argument can be used with Republicans as well. Who is the party that has promised smaller government, lower taxes, less regulation, etc..??? And for decades, they haven't delivered on that promise either.

And suddenly, the polls are important, in that none of the smear tactics demms are using seem to affect Bush. But when Clinton's approval remained high thru Lewinskygate, polls were "meaningless."

An honest perspective might just note that the majority of polled Americans don't pay any attention to politics, and these polls are generally meaningless!!

I'm not in JT's district but I live only a few short miles away in PA. Yes, of course, I support him wholeheartedly, as do my family and my friends.

I e-mailed C-Span to repeat Detore's testimony since they failed to do so on their after-hours rebroadcast of the hearing. They stopped just before Detore's testimony so a repeat of our Federal Reserve Chrmn hearing could be re-played once more. No reply was expected, none given.

We were able to hear the entire hearing live via a Ygn radio station. Detore's testimony seemed to affect many, many people in this area, including some who never voted for Jim. He has a lot of support here. Detore was believable, convincing, and had nothing more to lose by testifying. Everyone wishes he could have testified at the trial, but it's my feeling the judge would not have allowed it. Of course, everyone also wishes that JT had a lawyer at the trial. If so, they say, he would have won. I agree with that. But someone from Ygn would be able to tell you more. I'm sure they're on the board somewhere.

Jim was supposed to release all of the tapes he made involving the feds' witnesses - the tapes he was trying to insert into the hearing record and wasn't permitted. I haven't heard anything because I forgot to turn the Ygn news on at ll.

Yes, I feel he was railroaded, twice. And so do many others back here. He has an atty working on his appeal, but his sentencing is July 30. Oh, boy!

Agree! He reminds me of Bill Clinton, and like the congressman, Clinton should be going to jail.

Probably the most objective analysis of this whole situation that I've seen. If conservatives use the same tools, tricks, and techniques that the Democrats use, then what's the difference between them? And since Republicans haven't been able to deliver anything except more windsong, how are they any more effective at giving us our country back than the Democrats? At least the Left was successful in taking it AWAY!

It's going to take commitment and a true sense of purpose to reverse the downward spiral into socialism. And I can't think of many in the Repubican Party who can claim those virtues. But they talk the talk every election cycle.

The congressman probably will. Clinton, never. The congressman doesn't have the powerful friends Slick does.

You're right..

Most people don't digest news, they live on 10 second sound bytes, their parents politics and knee jerk reactions at the water cooler.

And, yes.. we shouldn't make such fun of the Black Dems for believeing the shameless pandering of their leaders.. We have been schnookered also.

But I think it's to a lesser degree though. We haven't had the power to change these things that the Dem's have. But we probably haven't fought for them nearly as hard as we should have either.

Trafficant has been railroaded. What he says is the truth. If you had been badgered as long as he has and your career is at bottom. You would be a raving lunatic also.
Clinton done far more than any one and got a way with it. If Trafficant starts to reveal to much, he will be another suicide trying to find a place to happen. If a person starts stepping on toes, "they are dead".

Oh my, he is colorful. He is crazier than a loon, and yet he said a lot of things that are true, and that other politicians seem to be afraid to say.

I was making the same observations. Instead of running from reporters and media cameras with his jacket pulled over his head, he was strolling amongst them shooting the breeze and working the room. If speech could be likened to food, his is like fruit salad. Each piece a different color, texture and flavor, but together makes sense and is palatable. On the other hand, only two other people have struck me the same way. One was Charles Manson and the other Ted Turner. Traficant is teddy-bear soup compared to those guys, and entertaining. I would be a hypocrite if didn't say that I have enjoyed every minute he has spent bugging the hell out of Democrats.
