They had a story stating the Riverside County Sheriff's Office said they tried to convict him of molesting two teens several years ago, but the jury acquitted him. Also, "sources" stated that the suspect dated previously dated a woman near the complex where the abduction took place, that he "eerily" matches the police drawings, and two girls remember him trying to lure them into a car a couple weeks ago.

Expect to hear more of this around 6pm.

I think people are slowly getting the picture. At least, I hope they are.

yesterday Avila was not identified by name but the news reporter was referring to an "Americanized Hispanic" suspect. That's a new one. it made me wonder if maybe he is an illegal.

Child abductions have gone DOWN for several consecutive years. They were far more prevalent in the 1980's. What is going UP (IMHO) is consensual sex between men and underage teens, courtesy of this great 1st amendment techno-gadget we and our children have unbridled access to. It's as exciting as the CB radio of the 70's, only with pictures, and the folks are naked.

Sorry, too much coffee perhaps.

They may be more careful, they may even never be caught again, but they never change.. They should be locked up forever or be killed. Any time a judge or a parole board releases a sexual predator, they are guaranteeing there will be another victim.

I've heard even castration isn't the cure because a lot of this is done for the violence.

The likeness of this guy to the sketch is real close, but when I added the guy's glasses to the sketch--its even more remarkable. NOTE the Jay Leno chin even shows...

An animal this disgusting should be simply erased from the earth and forgotten. An animal who would torture and kill a child like this doesn't even deserve the wrath of a prison guard.

"...He doesn't have no record..."

What his mom really means is, she's really proud to have raised her son in a home using 'double negatives' his entire life.

You're probably right that they can not be rehabilitated, but I sometimes wonder. I know some people were working on re-erotization techniques back during the first part of the AIDS crisis. Also , the ex-gay movement I think tried some of this stuff to re-orient gays to finding the opposite sex attractive (and fun?).

The problem here is, how do you justify the risk to society if your experiment in rehabilitation don't work? parsy.

It depends on how the procedure is done. A chainsaw would, I suspect, do absolute wonders to reduce recividism.

SICK, they shouldn't be allowed to exist! And then they copy the aids ribbon as if they have some sort of noble cause. Sick. I hope some computer software doesn't think I'm interested just because I looked at their front page.

I want to believe that there is a black moon rising and these people will be dealt with. It hurts so bad to see what people are capable off doing to other people. And when it's little defenseless children, it just drives me crazy. We as citizens have to take back the courts and work our as$ off to insure that justice, screw that word, punishment is metered out. And if the wimp judges can't, x them from the bench.

They should be locked up forever or be killed.

That is exactly what the biologists of the Maryland Department of Fish and Wildlife recommend for the Northern Snakehead fish. No, I am wrong. They just say ...kill them. Why? The ecosystem is threatened by them. Draw your own conclusions.

Reading between the lines of what the SO's said about this guy leads me to believe that he is not the only suspect. They said it was in "connection with the case" and not that they had arrested the suspect.

I'm not saying this isn't the guy, but remember the little girl said he was driving a green car, he has a white one. Unless he stole that. But then why would he be inspecting it?

Which leads me to another question, relating to the Smart case: this little girl was more than 100 yards away from this guy and she was able to give such a GOOD description of him; yet, in the Elizabeth Smart case, the police say that the sister is "too young to give an accurate description" of Elizabeth's abductor. Now, I know it was dark in that room...but if a 5 year old can give this good of a description of a man from 100 yards away *if she wasn't near the car*, than how come they say a 9 year old is too young and that since it was dark it would be hard for her to remember or give enough details?? Am I missing something here???

What in the H___ is the matter with people anyway?

We have juries who refuse to convict because of the consequences to the defendant.

I sat on a carjacking/rape case where we convicted the creep. He had been acquitted of the same type of crime 2 weeks before committing the one we convicted him of.

Two jurors were hesitant to vote guilty, because the young (24) man might spend 20 years in prison. But, we persuaded them that possession of the victim's car and the gun she described within an hour of the assault and eyewitness identification was proof enough that he was the guy who committed the crime.

When I was able to tell them about his prior, which had been in the local paper, they were flabbergasted. They said we wouldn't have needed to convince them to vote guilty had we told them about that!

Go figure!

I'm amazed that more people aren't interested in the link between the two - Don't they seem similar? In fact the Martinez killer asked him if he could help him find his cat..... - there is only a 30 mile distance between the two....
