Reading between the lines of what the SO's said about this guy leads me to believe that he is not the only suspect. They said it was in "connection with the case" and not that they had arrested the suspect.

I'm not saying this isn't the guy, but remember the little girl said he was driving a green car, he has a white one. Unless he stole that. But then why would he be inspecting it?

Which leads me to another question, relating to the Smart case: this little girl was more than 100 yards away from this guy and she was able to give such a GOOD description of him; yet, in the Elizabeth Smart case, the police say that the sister is "too young to give an accurate description" of Elizabeth's abductor. Now, I know it was dark in that room...but if a 5 year old can give this good of a description of a man from 100 yards away *if she wasn't near the car*, than how come they say a 9 year old is too young and that since it was dark it would be hard for her to remember or give enough details?? Am I missing something here???

1) surely the girl knows white from green.

2) I thought it was 100 feet? Not yards..

3) I hope if I am ever killed the cops are more competent than some of the ones we see in these high profile cases.

Uh, actually the report says he has a light green car. See post #6.

Ummmm, this little girl appears to be Asian. If you've ever had the pleasure of being around one of those kids, you'd know how bright most of them are. I bet her parents are proud of her!

This begs CORRECTION! The witness was only a few feet from the car. They were playing on a 'bench/wall' near the street. Samantha, unfortunately, only took a few steps toward the car when she was grabbed. Greta Van Sustein's showed the actual the abduction site including where the two girls were playing. It was less than 10 feet.

Yes, you are missing a couple of things.

The Smart residence abduction was at night. The perp was only indirectly lighted, at best.

The California kipnapping was in broad daylight, and several other people saw the car leaving the scene. It is likely that other witnesses contributed to making the composite drawing, not just the 5-year old playmate.

The Smart kidnapping included, apparently, a direct audible threat to Elizabeth, that her sister may have heard.

The little girl in California went kicking and screaming, which alerted neighbors.
