Update from OC Sheriff... Press conference..
Playing 911 tape of the people that found the body, male caller was extremely upset, and scared, he was crying, and telling 911 the location but the cell phone transmission was breaking up and was disconnected.
They called the telephone number he left before the disconnect and they called his home and got a messege machine. He called back within minutes and made contact again with 911 and was almost hysterical and crying saying it was little girl and was very distraught,
When Cell caller got home he called again from home phone and recontacted 911, 911 said they would pick him up and the he could show him where the body was.
End of 911 tape

This a 1999 photo of Alejandro Avila who was arrested as part of the investigation into the death of 5-year-old Samantha Runnion. Avila was arrested after search warrants were served overnight at an apartment complex not far from where the girl's body was found Tuesday.

Typically you see the anglo kids all walking home together in groups, but it is more common to see the Hispanic mothers walking their children home. Typically they don't drive or can't afford a second car, so the moms walk up to the school in the mornings with their children, and walk back to fetch them in the afternoon.
In the evenings here in our neighborhood where more than a few Hispanics live, the kids are out playing in front on their homes, including in the streets, and the parents all congregate in a yard to chat while they watch them.
This is all anecdotal, but the Hispanic "microculture" (my M.Ed. wife's two-bit word) is much more diligent in caring for children than other "minority" groups I could mention.
And you might recall that Samantha was a hundred fifty feet away from her grandmother's apartment when she was snatched. Something to consider.
LOL
I know what a horrible opinion I have... Or is it your duty to make a broad sweep generalization? You like the state, I do not. I told you why, you can assume otherwise. So be it. But bashing my skull in till I agree with yours makes no sense.
I know what you said, kitty. And I further felt the need to reiterate how you associated crime with California in general.
I agree with someone who doesn't find the state appealing, and now I am automatically associating the state with crime. Every state has crime. Some more than others. So what if a higher crime rate backs up the notion that I don't like So California because of all it's other problems? This doesn't mean I am not hip on California simply because of the crime, or are accusing So California of being the only state without crime?
Take someone with me? Why is there actually Californians who blasphemy the state by saying the may not like it? What traitors.
Homeschool mama, actually I wasn't. It just seem a bit hypocritical if he was one of the ones who criticized those who dropped off flowers. I wasn't going to accuse him of that before I knew for sure. Hope that clarifies my position.
fres, you'll have no argument from *me* that there were negative comments about the memorial being moved. I'm referring to those folks who disapproved of the memorial in and of itself. If you were not one of them, all you had to do was say "yes or no"..and you should have remembered what I was referring to.
Here are just 2 examples. (BTW, what is pitiful is for you to twist what I said..but just to clarify matters..here are 2 threads, 2 articles.. (not all the threads) I'm not talking about the articles fres, just comments made.)

Granted, it may not have been the murder site, but it was the location where the body was found.
"Hundreds of "mourners", "grievers", "pilgrims".....my foot! None of them ever met the murdered child. These people are ghouls who get some twisted pleasure by traveling great distances to stare at macabre death sites. "
"Take your stuffed animals and flowers to the Children's Hospital. Hug a child, take them to the zoo, but don't hang out at a murder site. Sick, sick, sick. "
Changing the car tracks from around the crime scene would be that motive.
Bet that anyone in the judicial system that was associated with this suspect, is going to say, "well I thought he as guilty". Sounds like the judge is attempting to cover his a$$.
He was changing good tires huh? Oh boy.
Thanks for that.
So a man's live is at stake.
But did Samantha's killer also kill Danielle? It is likely, to the close extent the trial of Westerfield has been followed, the proximity of the latest murder, the proximity of the alleged new killer, the place where the body was left, the age of the girl, the looks of the girl. It is likely.
This is important, maybe the most important thing on this thread.
