Update from OC Sheriff... Press conference..

Playing 911 tape of the people that found the body, male caller was extremely upset, and scared, he was crying, and telling 911 the location but the cell phone transmission was breaking up and was disconnected.

They called the telephone number he left before the disconnect and they called his home and got a messege machine. He called back within minutes and made contact again with 911 and was almost hysterical and crying saying it was little girl and was very distraught,

When Cell caller got home he called again from home phone and recontacted 911, 911 said they would pick him up and the he could show him where the body was.

Press conference continues, stating over 2000 citizens have given leads......

Another press conference at 6 PM

At 955 AM they made an arrest alihondro avial DOB 3-1375

Here is a map of where Samantha's body was found. Lake Elsinore and the town of Lake Elsinore are in the upper right. Hwy 74 (aka Ortega Hwy) runs right through the middle of the map. The 911 caller mentioned being near Killen Trail Rd, which intersects Hwy 74.

Where you see "Ortega Hwy" written on the map, there is a step overlook that looks north to the lake where the hang gliders launch. This is probably the area from what the 911 described and from some knowledge of that area. The area is very rural with some homes to the west where you see the streets off Hwy 74. There is a lot of motorcycle traffic from the speed bikers who are drawn to the Ortega's many twisting mountain curves.

The area is inside the Cleveland National Forest and is very thick chapparal and scrub oak habitat. The area is popular with hikers, mountain bikers and hunters. Many of these N.F. areas are used a dumping grounds for bodies cuz it's quick, out of sight at night. With steep canyons you can roll the stuff you want to get rid of down into the thich brush so it stays out sight for awhile.

Our newspaper ran an article this morning, saying that there was no increase in stranger child abductions, that it is all media hype (like last summer's "Shark Attacks!). I thought you might be interested after yesterday's assaults on your posting.

I believe it. Violence against children (including rape and murder) has been declining for a decade. This is media sensationalism at its worst.

Chances are that it is, though. Not 100% certain, but certainly above 50%. It is not that common for an arrest in a case like this to be based on flimsy evidence. The cops are very careful--they have to be. No one wants to go up a blind alley when the true perp must be found.

Yes, because if so he'd have had no right to BE HERE at all. And if he WASN'T HERE where he had no right to be in the first place, that girl would still be alive.

"What he did" is not made "worse" by his not being a citizen (if in fact he is not one), but the entire circumstances of the situation are made 100% worse, IMO, because he shouldn't have been here to commit rape, murder or any other criminal act.

I think he's a citizen though. I just have a hunch.

I don't think the 4600 number is deaths of abducted children, though. It may be total murdered children, including the Andrea Yates, Susan Smith, and death from parental neglect cases, but I wonder how "children" is defined (remember the gun-grabbers a few years ago were quoting stats of "children" killed by guns -- including through age 24!).

Get a grip, I no where said California had the market cornered on crime. Nor did I say I based my opinion on that factor solely.

Also I haven't been in Texas for two long and I am sure to get stationed somewhere else soon. I grew up in California and spent my whole life there, and still claim it as my home of record. What? Only non-residents, whom have never lived in California say bad things about your state? here's another news flash, a lot of Californians are not happy with their state either, this only makes them shake their head further, like myself.

On a side note, if bashing California is such a irritating thing, why did you just slam Texas? DO you live here? But don't worry I won't defend Texas, because we have area's all over the united states that's are undesirable as far as living there is concerned. major cities, high crimes area's etc.
